Republicans just killed a bill to provide medical care to veterans, why?

Taking care of veterans COSTS MONEY and Republicans hate money that is not spent on them.

However, using veterans to fight their filthy illegal unprovoked wars MAKES MONEY for Republicans and that part they love although they dislike having to pay soldiers. Slaves would be better.

Now, if they could only figure out a way to kill every veteran who might need care if they came home, the Republicans would be happy, provided of course they didn't have to pay funeral expenses.

Maybe if Pfizer came up with a pill, or say… hmmm I don't know, maybe a vaccine for the veterans, Dems would have pulled their support for the bill, in lieu of providing 350 billion for burn-pit cancer vaccines? It would seem that that's a Republican talking point and not true. All but 12 Republican senators just voted for it anyway, because they know it's not true, and also that the bill was essentially unchanged from when it got 84 votes in the senate in June.

One line was removed since the June vote, that was all.

@goaded Most politicians vote for whatever they think is popular, hence why its normal to put underhanded provisions in otherwise popular bills. The scale of this corruption of this bill however clearly illustrate how much democrats are still counting their lapdogs to keep carrying water for them.

Are you disputing that the only difference between the bill in June and the bill in July was one line removed? No?

The bill is popular because it ensures that veterans made ill by toxins ranging from Agent Orange to burn pits no longer have to go to court to prove their ailments were caused by those things. It also ensures that congress cannot simply decide in the future not to fund the support. Sick veterans, like 9/11 responders, should not have to keep going back to congress to ensure they're taken care of. The country owes them.

I don't think they did remove such liablity.

Congress already agreed to pay for veteran illnesses caused by what they were required to do in the military. The requirement to prove such was the cause is the only way your don't just hand away money for free to everyone who gets so sick for any reason.

Congress cannot however bind any future congress to any such agreements, so whoever told you that is lying.

The senate voted for the same bill, plus one sentence about taxable benefits which got removed, in June, and 84 senators voted for it (all the votes against were also Republicans, of course).

Republicans are upset that the Democrats may actually pass a completely unrelated bill that helps people despite their best efforts and having essentially a Republican or two in the Democratic party (Manchin and Senema). So they're taking it out on veterans and same-sex marriage. Their only mission is to stop Democrats from doing anything then claim that Democrats aren't doing anything, so vote Republican, they get things done!
