Can you describe yourself as intellectual or not?

Hmm, “entellectual”. Don’t you hate typos? Unfortunately, no way to edit or change that unfortunate, yet comical, mistake. To answer if I find myself “intellectual”, yes I do to a degree.

I don’t pretend I know everything or that I am the smartest person, but I can certainly hold my own. That is due to good upbringing and education. I was fortunate to have some of the very best education in my area that is available.

I continued that education into university. That doesn’t mean that I am the smartest person or the wisest. A lot of that has to do with life lessons. I’m still young and learn new things every day. However, I can hold a conversation in many areas and be at least knowledgeable enough to do so.

That is mostly down to my parents pushing me to do well in school and then me pushing myself even harder.

The Dunning–Kruger effectis a  [2] whereby people with low  , expertise, or experience regarding a certain type of a task or area of knowledge tend to overestimate their ability or knowledge. Some researchers also include in their definition the opposite effect for high performers: their tendency to underestimate their skills. Most if not all people that say there opinions will be experiencing this effect.  You won’t get anybody without this effect.

Yes, I am intellectual. No, I don't have to prove it to anyone. People are going to see what they want to see, based on what you choose to show them. I don't need to "prove" I'm an intellectual person to anyone, so you don't need me to try to "prove" it to you. I will say, I like learning new things everyday.

And yeah, I realize call one "an intellectual" themselves comes off arrogant most of the time, but what other word should we say?

I feel like intellectual is a sort of positive attribute that is a better fit for others to give you as if you give it to yourself, you will just sound full of it.

In the sense I have strong common sense and solid wisdom, I guess yes. If you mean I'm very educated and sophisticated with speech and vocabulary then no.
