Do scientists understand why for some people getting covid is like a cold and for others its like a flu?

My sister and I got covid at the same time. We are both triple vaxed. My symptoms were mild, like a cold. I was congested. For her, it was like a flu. High fever, coughing and fatigue. Do scientists understand why?

The degree of illness caused by all sorts of infectious diseases varies, and Covid-19 is no exception. It depends on someone's general health and also their specific genetics. For most diseases we do not know exactly which genes are protective. We do know that for many diseases, including Covid-19, vaccinations are highly effective in preventing infection, or preventing serious illness after infection.
