Never talk without a lawyer, particularly to federal officials.

These people advance their careers on number of prosecutions, and have limited political accountability for abuses, particularly at the Federal level where too few people will ever know about it.

Its also worth noting that the legal code is soo extensive and broad that there is not a single American who doesn't violate on average 3 laws a day.

If they are clever and for any reason inclined they will get you.

A lawyer I heard taught me this. Always keep your mouth shut wheather it's the local police asking you a question, FBI or prosecutor.

You should not answer any questions without a lawyer and legal consultant, doing so you can make a verbal mistake or you might not understand what is being asked and it will be used against you in court as evidence so shut your mouth.

Absolutely I would in the presence of my lawyer. You can't self incriminate if you're not guilty in the first place and the best way to convince them of you'd innocence is to be open and honest. I would be arguing back screaming my innocence.

You would be very foolish to submit to any questions in that scenario without a lawyer present, especially if federal level law enforcement is involved. Ask literally any retired investigator or special agent and they'll tell you the same thing.

Now being a witness to an accident or crime and being interviewed on the scene is a bit different.

The fifth amendment doesn’t guarantee a right to silence. It guarantees a system wherein the accused cannot be forced to be a witness against themselves. It also guarantees due process of law. Any person who would not invoke the fifth amendment is a complete fool. There’s no surer way to lose your rights than to refuse to assert them in the first place.

Police and other investigators are not your friends regardless of guilt or innocence.

In fact they stand to gain by solving cases, even if they get it wrong. Therefore it's best to speak through a lawyer and cooperate only to the minimum extent required.

Dont know. Context is everything. I do watch a lot of interrogation vids on Yt and some are fasley accused but keep the body language and truthful answers the whole time. Then get a big fat check if they serve time erroneiously.

Unfort most people dont know if current prisoners are guikty or not.

Even cops. Don't go around answering cops, innocent or otherwise but specially if innocent. Unless you can basically prove your innocence, which is rare.

That actually happened to me. They took me in to question me. They realised that i was the victim and let me go. I have to say, with all these incompetent cops we have everywhere nowadays it seems, the criminals win more often than not.
