It's not about the victim. It's about the crime.

If your friend raped someone, wouldn't you turn them in? If they pushed someone in a bar fight, is that worth sending them to jail? Unsure of No. 2, if the person was not harmed..

I'm talking about something YOU witness this friend do, or that you know another friend has witnessed, so you are assured of your friend's guilt.

Your friend steals a car, shoots up heroin, sells drugs, hits and runs away from an accident... We're talking serious crimes. Have to turn them in.

Not sure what minor crime I'd excuse.. but it'd have to be a no harm, no foul kind of situation.

i don't have to lie. i just won't tell them anything. cause it's one thing to help a friend out. but it's another thing to incriminate yourself.

Would I take the blame myself? Hell no.

But why in the world wouldn't I lie to police, to protect a friend? That seems super basic to me.

Put another way: What kind of friend would turn in his friend to the police? Or help the police to build a case against their friend? That's not a friend.

Well my first thought would be to do anything to protect them though this risk to put me at risk if ther''s proves / clue of what he did then I would to prison for osemhtig I did not do so it would depend.

I guess I would lie to protect them if I think there's no clue and he could get away from it easily but if there's clue against him / too tricky situation I would more then likely say nothing, not turning him in but not helping either.

I don't associate with the type of person who would commit a crime, unless the law itself were unjust and should be protested and revised.
(ie I don't associate with assholes, so this situation is not applicable to me).

I do report assholes though. Character matters, and if your character is shit, you're not my friend, and I'll ditch you at the drop of a hat, crime or not.

Depends if I would be going to prison if found guilty. I would protect no one if they did a serious crime, say murder.
