Bill Clinton, although the impeachment didn't happen until half-way through his second term 1998. He lied about his affair when being investigated about real-estate deals. Since it was so obviously a Republican witch hunt, starting in 1994, he won in 1996 by a considerable margin.

In retrospect, the country would probably have been better off if the Senate had voted to convict (he did, after all, lie to federal officials, although it had nothing to do with his presidency), since Al Gore would have taken over the reigns for the final two years and won in 2000 unless he really screwed up.

Imagine no 9/11, no Afghan or Iraq wars, no tax cuts for the rich to get rid of he first federal surplus since 1951, action to tackle global warming 20 years ago...

Because it was obviously a case of investigators trying to find the slightest thing they could in order to start an impeachment. Unlike, say, government employees blowing the whistle on the extortion of a foreign country for political gain, or being part of a conspiracy to steal the presidency.

Presidents that wouldn't cheat on wives would be Nixon (other things to worry about and he did love his wife , he died a year after she did), Carter who was really a Christian and lived by example. Bush 1 who died about a year after his wife died. Bush Jr who would be stupid to cover an affair up.
