Is there a lot of harrasment and Cat calling to women in America?

Everyone says US is a very free country, so i wonder this. Are women comfortable in the streets?

No. And cat-calling or whistling is not harassment either. Just because people say that the US is a free country doesn't mean people can do whatever they want. There are still laws and common sense rules. Some laws get abused and need to be dealt with though.

When i say "free" i meant "freedom and peace" for women.

Let me put it like this; the harassment and catcalling definitely happen, but they are rare enough that it's jarring and I make note of it when I see it.

This will probably get me in trouble, but I think it needs to be said; there is definitely a certain number of women who absolutely lie about being harassed to get attention.

I've been catcalled definitely once, maybe twice in my lifetime. Most people in the places I've lived are pretty well mannered about that though.

Yes. When I walk anywhere around town, it happens. It used to happen every day when I’d walk to work.

Not where I live even with locals who are a little different and old school…especially construction related industry. I never see or hear it myself. I’m in average salary 70,000 quasi-recession proof area…

Nah. Most harrassment complains are fake, someone looked on a girl she didn't like and thanks to me2 she can ruin his life over it.
