One thing that has to be understood is you can make schools armed camps with razor wire and land mines all around them. You are still not going to stop teen violence against other teens. If these monsters can't get into the schools they will attack bus stops and Malls all across the country where Teens hang out. Just something as simple as walking into a Mcdonald's at 8 PM on a Friday night, how many teens do you see there? Take away guns? What they will do now? They use a car and mow down 4 or 5 teens walking in the street! This is a MUCH more complex issue other than turning schools into hard camps and taking away guns. In all honesty, I don't know what the best solution will be. Heck, there might not be one!

Well, I moved to the Netherlands recently from America and here we never have shootings. We’ve never had a school shooting in our entire countries history. Concealed carry is illegal here and you aren’t allowed to own a gun for self defense. You need a permit for all guns and are only allowed to shoot them at certified ranges which can deny you for pretty much any reason. We have very strict gun laws and it’s really hard to get a gun here so I think that’s most obvious answer that nobody seems to want to acknowledge. We don’t need gun free zones here or anything like that or militarized police simply because nobody here has guns. It makes my life a lot less stressful knowing pretty much nobody has a gun here and I’m glad we never have school shootings thanks to our gun laws.
@bingbongbangbung We are not fools, we know that criminals don't care about laws (they wouldn't be criminals otherwise) and that black markets exist. But if you ban guns, then those in the black market are more easy to trace back to their source and something can be done by the police. Also, at the very least, you make it harder for potential shooters to get their guns. Anything helps, even if just delay when they do their crimes, which is way more than what the U. S. Is doing now. You can say whatever you want, but the greatest worry a student in Europe has is bad grades. Something we do has to be the reason for that, don't you think?
@LaFerrari The Netherlands is one of the most densely populated and urbanized countries on earth we have a population of 17.44 million as of 2020 which is huge for our size. It is also very diverse too in many places.
You have hammers, you have axes, you have chainsaws, you have knives, you have rope, you have rocks, fire place pokers, etc., etc... You have rape. You have murder. It's all ok. Because you don't have mass murders, which in the Grand Scheme of things matters not. None of those stats go down per capita. The chances of dying via mass murders is like being struck by lightning twice. You can drown before you need to worry about guns.
@schittywok well actually those stats do go down because the murder rate here is far lower than it is in the US especially the rate of gun homicide and I don’t have to worry about shootings at all anymore because they almost never happen here. I lived next to DC in America and there were shootings almost daily. So many that the news didn’t even report all of them. The homicide rate of the most dangerous city in the Netherlands is 2 per 100k and the homicide rate of DC is 25 per 100k and it isn’t even in the top 5 for the most dangerous US cities. Police shootings also pretty much never happen here as well. We can go entire decades here without having any shootings at all and that includes police shootings. Well 90% of the population here supports strict gun control.
The greatest threat in schools and businesses is a shooter. Guns are far and away the easiest weapon with which to commit mass murder. You don't have to get close. You don't even have to look at your victim's face or into their eyes. All of that makes it easier for the shooter to convince himself that said victims don't matter or are somehow less than human.
The only real solution is to stop the bleeding, both literal and figurative: repeal the 2nd Amendment, outlaw the selling of guns to any American civilian for any reason and confiscate the existing firearms. Anyone who refuses or resists should be considered a domestic terrorist. Simple but effective.
Partially because schools don’t have that kind of funding. The GOP consistently moves money towards the military and away from schools. One thing we could do to keep our children safe is have a gun control. Australia’s only ever had one more shooting because they had a mess shooting and then the banned guns.
Giving schools more money isn't a great thing. Dems give money to schools because teachers unions fund their campaigns. Money for "education" is really just more fringe benefits for teachers. The teachers union x democratic party complex is one of the most corrupt relationships in politics.
The military is funded by the federal government. Schools are primarily funded by state and local governments. There is no evidence that what's being spent on the military by the federal government would otherwise be spent on local schools. And military budgets are not passed without the votes of Democrats.
Avicenna, you are right about the vote of Democrats. And you’re also right about the federal funding. I still think that the federal government could afford to give more money to schools, but choose not to.
"Two organizations account for practically all of the contributions made by teachers unions: The National Education Association (about $20 million in 2016) and the American Federation of Teachers (almost $12 million)."
What you said about teachers not having enough money to donate might be true on the surface individual level, but it's embarrassingly obvious that they do have money to give. They give huuuuge amounts through unions.
Yeah, right dude. Schools should be treated like war zones. People have lost their fucking minds. The problem is easy access to military-style weapons in the US, which were specifically designed to kill lots of people in a short time.
No guns maybe? I mean here owning a gun isn't easy and school is a pretty safe place... I don't know might be related with this.. cause we don't have security guards at school, the only thing is that teachers need to call the parents if the child don't show up, we have school busses and yeah
Well said @LaFerrari , plus swiss people really have their guns only for hunting cause the people trust each other, as far as I have seen it, they even leave their bikes unlocked and shit lol
They don't have it for hunting only, but you're correct about trust and leaving bikes unlocked and whatnot. Which brings a completely different topic as to why there are so many school shootings in the US, while there are none in Switzerland -- something is wrong with the society in the US and guns themselves aren't a problem. People are the problem. Seek roots of the issue in your society, culture and people, not guns.
Canada also has (or had?) almost as lax gun laws as the US, why such a short list en.wikipedia.org/.../Category:School_shootings_in_Canada ? After Columbine there was even a documentary "Bowling for Columbine" and Michael Moore was able to buy a gun at the damn *bank*. Yet the situation in there is nowhere near as bad.
@Metallsturm He didn't but the gun, it was a gift for opening a bank account, which may be even worse somehow! However, to be fair what they didn't show was that Michael Moore had to become a legal resident of not just that state, but that county. Some sources alleged that Mr. Moore obtained that firearm fraudulently, because he was not legally a resident of that county. Obviously no legal action was taken, so this may not be accurate. But still… That was insane and never should happened. You know what they say: “America, we’re not perfect but hey were young, I’ve us a chance. Not one European country had any gun laws when THEY were only 250yrs old!”.
@CrazyGirl2 Ok, he got it as a gift instead of buying it, I guess I mixed it up as I can't remember such tiny details, nor I know anything whether he got it fraudulently or not; point is that there are countries with very lax guns laws, such as Switzerland, Canada and plenty of others ( www.liveandinvestoverseas.com/.../ ), yet apparently they don't suffer from mass shootings like US does. Therefore what I said remains unshaken: it's not gun problem, it's people problem, otherwise those countries would be as fucked up as US when it comes down to gun crime, but they aren't. Thus there's something fundamentally wrong with people in the US. Prohibiting guns, getting rid of 2A etc. won't solve anything, but instead perhaps will make it only worse, as it'll strip law-abiding citizens from fighting back against criminals that don't care about laws to begin with.
Most mass shooters know they have a great potential to do without much worry of resistance until the police get there, and most of these shooters are actually commiting suicide. They know they are going to die. They just want to inflict as much pain on those who they can, before the checkout.
Yeah, most what to overthink, and over react to a small risk. I hate mass shootings, especially when it involves children, but the reaction to ban guns and fortify the campus is not the best way, because many of these schools are creating a challenge to be attempted.

Most schools have adequate security measures in place. All the doors are secure and there is one point of entry and that is usually watched by a security guard. It is when protocols are not followed and security becomes lax is when problems happen
Just give everyone guns. Folk will be too afraid to start something, since anyone can retaliate with lethal force on the spot. While having a disparity who has access to guns and who doesn't actually endangers the latter, as they're pretty much defenseless and no amount of other measures, except the one mentioned, will work.
Allow teachers (or other school workers such as janitors) have guns at school.
School shootings are relatively common in USA, because killers know they can go there, and nothing would stop them, as it's not allowed to have guns for self defence there. That's the reason there are no shootings at f. e. airports - because at airports you have armed security, so potential shooters do not want to risk.
Oh thankfully my school is well protected. Like there are armed securities, all the sports teacher know martial arts, all gates and classrooms are locked, CCTV cameras are there also our school is in a safe place.
Also any sort of bullying have straight away strict actions. No one more chance is given. And if any child is facing any threats online or is violating the cyber laws then school hackers are there to keep an eye on them. They literally hacked our class WhatsApp groups. They keep an eye on the child's insta and Facebook account even if the child don't have their own name or profile pic. Don't worry, they aren't here on gag lol.
@bingbongbangbung yeah, but it's better than nothing. Like incase of hand to hand combat. There are armed guards near all the possible places invaders can get in though.
@bingbongbangbung It was more of statement... we should pay more attention to the demographic of those who shoot up schools and commit mass shootings. Because most of those guns are obtained legally and the grand majority of the perpetrators are male.
@Subarugirl yes, there is a lot of anger in America today. People don't like being cancelled and if you take away their voice they will let their guns do the talking.
The idea of arming teachers is insane. But metal detectors, secured perimeters, armed security officers and police, locked classrooms checked regularly by administrators and regular active shooter drills are reasonable preventive measures
Armed and trained teacher's/employees (janitors, coaches, bus drivers, etc anyone willing to take the job) and a gun safe in the main office. Tight security on entering the premises.
All these dumb fuck liberals think you can stop a killer by holding hands and singing fucking "kumbaya" until the cops show up and everybody's already dead. The only thing that stops a killer is a killer.
I do not own a smart phone, body cam, or home security cameras. I have my guns, I have my concealed carry permit. People can fuck with me all they want. However, to live prosperously, we need self defense insurance. They will always come after your ass litigiously. Which ain't even a word? It's a shame we cannot attend any event whilst arming ourselves because we are scared of Gangbangers and hijackers? But to Libtard minds? They all escape that hell hole of Dem Ran Shit Hole? They bring their ideals with them. It's sick, and sadistic.

How about no on repealing the Second Amendment? You pickme's for shooter fodder is your decision. Not mine, and people who want to protect themselves.
Did you forget to mention mass shooters love gun-free zones.

I think it could, too, but as you know, priorities lie elsewhere for the the politicians and lobbyists.
Avicenna, word. The police were at the last school shooting though, they just didn’t go into the building because they were rightly scared.

No, it’s not that- it’s because the leadership are leftists. Democrats do not have good policies on education.
Avicenna, yeah. I really think only people should be allowed to donate to political campaigns and only 100,000 dollars max per person.
having armed people is no guarantee anymore...
there were 360 armed grown ups at Uvalde who did absolutely nothing for full 77 minutes
nothing at all... to help those children, against ONE armed guy
360 grown ups vs ONE armed guy... did not nothing for over an hour

en.m.wikipedia.org/.../Category:School_shootings_in_Germany literally 7 shootings in general according to this
From 1913 to 2022

Oh wow, as many guns as in the US, not a single school shooting. Now, how does that work? o_O
@Metallsturm there's 400+ Million legal firearms and millions of illegal firearms in America, not 2 million... that's the difference...

Just make schools not gun free zones.
Most mass shooters know they have a great potential to do without much worry of resistance until the police get there, and most of these shooters are actually commiting suicide. They know they are going to die. They just want to inflict as much pain on those who they can, before the checkout.

Depends on how much freedom you wanna trade for safety.
You can do clear back packs and and lockers
And armed security every exist and random checks on classes.
Bad things happen people just need to get over it in my opinion.
Would you trust a teacher to carry. What if the teacher snaps. Who's gonna stop him in a room with 30 kids
Remove the Trans Activists from there! 😡

Wouldn't it make more sense to address what is causing the issue instead of putting a Band-Aid over it and pretending that fixes the issue.
You're asking the "wrong" kind of question, these SJWs don't like that
@bingbongbangbung It was more of statement... we should pay more attention to the demographic of those who shoot up schools and commit mass shootings. Because most of those guns are obtained legally and the grand majority of the perpetrators are male.

Sure thing, champ.
It's the sign of a fucked up country where you're more concerned about school shooters, than school educators.
Rebuild the foundation of this country on Biblical principles and 10 Commandments back in government buildings…
