I think companies should make whatever products they want. If the product is profitable, then they will keep making it. If it's not, then they will go out of business. No company should be too big to fail and get government funding just to produce racist products to cater to wack jobs that think a bandage has to match their skin tone. When you're a kid you want red or blue or green band-aids. If you're a little girl maybe you want a band-aid that is pink with purple heart patterns all over it. It's only when people start becoming hardened racists that they start complaining about the majority of band-aids being tan in a nation that has a majority White people. Obviously there are cost advantages that come with the scale of an operation. Anyone who has ever taken an economics course would understand that. If there are a lot of White consumers in a market, then it will obviously be cheaper to produce a lot of band-aids that is similar to White people's skin tones. If you want a band-aid that is a different color than the main run, then pay a premium for the specialty color. That said the tan band-aids don't perfectly match White people's skin color either and we never complain about it. They help a wound to clot and keep it clean so we use them because they work. The fact that Black people get their panties in a bunch over the color of a band-aid highlights their deep seated racist beliefs.
If you have a problem with the main run being tan, tough shit. You're a freeman, start your own damn company and make brown bandages and sell your product to niche markets in western countries with your primary target market being sub-Saharan Africa. There are people that like brown band-aids. You just have to ask the question, do they make enough money to spend on your desired product and can you make it profitable enough to make it worth being in business.
If you are a Black person ask yourself this. Are you willing to pay more for a product just to be a racist? Does the bottom line matter when you go to the store? A lot of people make their decisions based on price. Cheaper usually wins for everyday products, but not everyone makes logical decisions. The standard run color for air force ones had a average price of $100, but some people were willing to pay $220 for the specialty color cool grey. Maybe you're one of those people that will pay more than twice the price for the same product in a different color.

A couple of years ago crayon companies came out with flesh tone crayons for all skin types and I thought that was mega because growing up as a kid, there was one flesh tone crayon and that meant the peach or Caucasian tone so for kids to now be able to draw themselves using tones that look like them in my classes, was awesome. It's the same for bandaids. It doesn't bother you if the bandaid is in your flesh tone, right, but when the bandaids don't match up, you've got this big noticable bandaid stuck to you if you have darker skin. I love that more and more companies are finally recognizing people of color in make-up, stocking colors, pointe shoes, bandaids, crayons, dolls, even the holiday decor like elf on the shelf has multi-racial elves now. Its great that everyone can be recognized as existing and that their skin is beautiful.
If I'm bleeding I don't really care what colour my plaster is I just want a plaster we've got bigger fish to fry.
Plus most places in the UK anyway have blue plasters. The skin coloured ones are like what people have at home

I don't see a problem with it but they DID make them, not only of different skin colours but with colourful designs all over them!! If they don't do the various skin colours, anymore, maybe it's because the people decided it was kind of a stupid idea. Even if I HAVE a Band-Aid on that matches my skin tone, everybody can clearly see that it's there so, what's the bloody point? They still make clear ones, too. Isn't that good enough? I think that'd be the BEST way to go about it so you're not wasting all that time and money making all those different colours!!
I think if there is that big off a psychological issue about wearing a band aid and people seeing it, then making different shades of bandaids is by far the very least of our problems. Its sad that people feel that this is a concern to address.. There are starving kids that sleep in the streets, people getting their genitals mutilated in parts of the world, nobody gives a damn that your wearing a bandaid, whether It be any color, printed with princesses, knives, balloons, "dont look at me", its all about perspective.
If bandaid color is that big of an issue, then someone should start a bandaid company thAt sells multiple shades, but I dont feel that companies should do in a forcibly or fearfully from ostracizing...
That's actually a really good question!
It would be a nightmare from a business perspective. Having to stock all of those different colors will take up a huge amount of shelf space. (Because they have to be side by side; one can't be behind another, because that would indicate a hierarchy.) And someone would always get offended if their color is out of stock. ... Also, can you imagine a customer asking an employee which color matches them best? I shudder at the thought!!
I say they should just make them all be the color of people from Kazakhstan and be done with it.
Make them clear only. Or print brands that will help subsidize their costs. These whiny clowns are in denial about how PRIVILEGED they are when their greatest woes are bandages that don’t match their skin tone exactly. Ell oh ell!
WHERE IS THAT GD METEOR THAT IS SUPPOSED TO WIPE US ALL OUT ALREADY?
That's dumb. Nobody cares about their Band Aids being "Caucasian" flesh toned unless they're a loser with nothing else going on in their life.
IF people want them and they're not more expensive, then make them. But I don't really see a high demand for this.
If we politicize even medical equipment, then the world needs some help from outside :)
Who ever does not like the colour... feel free to not use bandages.
What's next? Doctor's work attire in ethnically matching colours?
...
To constantly emphasize the phenotypical differences that we all have is one reason why ''racism'' is kept alive.
@andreasderjuengere my family doctor and his staff all wear black attire, and so do the emergency rooms.
I think the black attire sucks! What was wrong with pastel colors that look cheerful and not black one's that can be depressing. There was a time when wearing black was for one thing - going to a funeral. Bring back the cheerful pastel colors!! 🧡💛💚💙💜🤍
First world insanity. The idea of a frickin' Band Aid is to stop bleeding and prevent infection at a cut site, not to make you feel secure about your skin tone!
Most Band Aids never get my exact tone right. But I don't put one on to flaunt tone pride. I put it on so I don't get MRSA!
I don't reject 3M blue gauze tape because I don't have blue skin. I use alternate brands because the blue 3M stuff causes contact dermatitis.
lol Nope.
I'm actually quite surprised people expect band-aids to actually match users' skin-tones. The band-aid's color is actually quite iconic, whether here in the U. S. or back in Asia.
Also, injuries are easier to spot, so more appropriate actions can determined from 1look.
Stupid idea in my opinion. I don’t see a point in wasting time and resources to make a bandaid a different colour.
When I cracked my head open and was profusely bleeding all over the place the last thought in my mind was o boy I hope there’s a bandage that matches my skin tone.
but that’s just me.
I think its more important to see more cartoons and movies featuring Asians, hispanics, blacks. this is coming from someone who grew up from childhood in the Us seeing absolutely no representation for my race. it gives us more of a connection to not only the media but also society in general.
why? Why does the color of a band-aid matter? If they want to make them all black, go for it. I really could not possibly care less about the color of my band aid. Does anyone put on a band-aid and think "yep, nobody is gonna see that. Blends right in, almost invisible."?
Let’s make toilet paper in different color shades too
Is this a joke? point is to accept things are they appear and look.
At this point if you press things this far make this in all cores etc it might even backfire. You don’t want that right.. the sleep is sleeping for a reason because the are already smart. They did this before
You can not teach your em Teacher ~
To accept ad they appear and look *
In all Colors *
Really bad analogy.
Possibly, the colour doesn't match my pinky-white skin. Also it is disgusting that people in the catering trades have to wear blue sticking plasters just to pander to Sassette Smurfling when he does his part time job.
The serious answer is a resounding NO.
They should all have rainbows and snot monsters on them so everyone can know you gave yourself a booboo.
Seriously, who lives such a frivolous life that matching a bandaid to their specific skin tone is that important to them?
No. It’s stupid. Just one more thing to make a problem out of.
I really don’t think that if you just sliced your hand open in a kitchen accident you’re going to stop and consider what color the goddamn bandage is to stop the bleeding.
But this is what Lefties do. 🤷♂️
More options are nice, not only related to color, i mean if you bandaid color matter all that much just go with transpernt and you good to go 😄
Over all dont care much what color it is really
I don’t get it like everything is being considered either racist or not inclusive. Like I want to know where the bandaid is like I get makeup but bandaids? Really? And they do just not a wide enough spectrum for some people I guess
I actually don't give a damn. They all serve the same purpose, and they are all going to the bin anyway. These are all first world problems.
No it’s a band air who care just make a product that work who cares if it matches anyone skin black white Asian whatever if you need a bandaid get a bandaid and stop making everything racial
How bout they make them blue or green or purple or with fun designs? That way they won’t match anyones skin tone and you can be fun.
I think it's ridiculous and silly to care about band-aid/plaster colour. Who cares if it blends into your skin colour or not? In fact, I like the children's ones more because they come in all kinds of designs and colours.
I’m a brown girl and I’m so sick of everyone worrying that every part of life will hurt my feelings like I’m a piece of chinaware
Why the hell everyone takes skin colour so seriously? Like why be racist in healing wounds?
And if you are saying for fun then there was cartoon themed band aids.
They should all be blue (like catering ones) that way when guys nick their finger we can spot it easier and give himva big hug and tell him how brave he is and would he like us to kiss it better.
I guess, the color of band-aids never bothered me really. I don't plan to keep it there forever
Who cares tho but i want it to be solid black
Hecka-yeah! I'd cut myself just so I could have a black bandaid! That'd be cool
YAZ GORL! ikrrrrrr that would be cool as fuckkkk 😍
Only Johnson & Johnson makes the trademark Band-Aid. Others are just called ‘patches.’ Yes, they should make any colour you like. I prefer the ones that are something groovy and original, like cats, bats, aeroplanes, etc.
They exist already... Why race obsessive people don't stop the race thing already and just buy transparent band aids if they feel so discriminated by a band aid of a different skin tone?
Bandaids (plasters) are already made in several different shades and patterns, including cartoon characters for kids.
Oh great, now band aids are racist. What's next?
I think the market should determine whether they make them or not. If people buy them cool if not stop doing it.
They do already!! Not necessary.
I do like the cartoon ones. It’s like a magic tape. You give to kids… they stop cryimg immediately. Love it!
Jayzus, as long as it gets the job done who gives half a shit about the color
We have to much thing to deal with and for color of the band aid nowadays we have different and even from the cute to different shades of color already.
Not really. A clear bandaid usually does fine. I don't know how much of a market for "nude" bandages exists to make them for so many shades.
I buy band-aids from Amazon. 100 pack for different skin tones. I'm not going to link to a commercial site, but they are available.
I really wonder how many black people really cared about band aide colors prior to the wokesters going ballistic over it.
Yellow, green, blue, red, purple, orange, ... and print some dinosaurs onto them.
Are you serious lol that's a waste of time tbh. The purpose is to cover a wound not blend in with your skin. That's funny
you dont get it. but that's ok
not cost effective. make them all green from now on and tell everyone to fuck off. thats what i would do.
A band-aid is a band-aid
As long as I have something to cover a horrible wound up, idc what color it is
Yes it be nice.
My skintone it really stands out.
I rather keep it less obvious if possible, and sure other skintones would too.
I think I could probably live with the ones we currently have
No, they should make them all blue unless they have cartoon pictures on them or whatever for fun people.
Maybe just three.
theyre never going to match every skin tone
That’s a literal waste of money especially when they function exactly the same as regular band aids
Lol band aids are not meant to be skin coloured are they? Everyone is a slightly different shade this is a dumb idea
They should make them in whatever is most cost effective and sells.
no. because that wastes ressources for nothing. the purpose of a band aid is to heal your wound faster. they aren't political statements.
I would have thought transparent and white (proper white, not the skin colour) would be sufficient. Oh, and blue for cooks.
Leave that decision to the companies.
If they can make money out of different coloured would dressings, they will make them.
…and they do. I assume the poster is asking if we want to prevent them from doing so in the future. (And I think you and I are in agreement about the answer to that.)
Sounds like a good way to waste shelf space, but if people want to buy em then great.
I don't really care. I find it funny people were triggered about it for so many years.
Americans are so obsessed with race and skin colour that it disgusts me. I thought only Indians thought about skin colour but the amount of times Americans talk about it is seriously appalling.
The pinkish Band-Aids that I get still stand out on my skin. So people see you're wearing one - BFD.
They do make them with clear tape strips.
I think they should do whatever maximizes long term profits for the stickholders.
They should just make them all dark brown to satisfy the only group of people who would every think the color of bandages could somehow be "racist". No one else will ever care. Crisis averted.
No, its a waste. Go use Hello Kitty or Minions or some other cartoon version if the normal ones are not good enough. No need to make band aids of the entire color spectrum.
No, that's stupid. The idea for the color is to allow seeing if the band aid is dirty or tainted with pus/blood.
The darker it is, the harder it is to see it.
No it isn't. It's to keep stuff out of a wound. They make all kinds of designs on band aids that would obscure seeing pus. What nonsense.
