In an official Taxpayer funded Government policy speech Joe Biden seems to have declared war on half the country, saying we are a threat to Democracy.

Never mind you can't have democracy without different points of view, and these united States are suppose to be a Federal Constitutional Republic, never a democracy.

Still as this is a official tax payer funded policy speech it does sound very much like the raid on leader of his politician opposition and former president was just the begging of his administrations intentions to weaponize his goverment against his political enemies.

American States are not like German states they are as large or larger than European countries and even more geographically diverse.

To have soo much land and very different circumstances in which any economy and people must live requires a high level of autonomy to optimize said rules for local prosperity.

You don't understand the reasons why the people of the south or west might resent or hate the politics of the people of New England when they have the Federal Government impose a destructive environmental or land management policy upon them that effectively cripples their economy and industry. Thou it may make some limited sense in the distant urban areas of New England.

This is why we were suppose to have federalism, anther concept the people of the tiny New England states, have always worked to challenge or abolish due to the ungovernable small size of their states.

It is a lot more difficult for Rode Island to deal with Massachusetts's caused environmental problems right next door to all their population then for Nebraska to deal with environmental issues with South Dakota. The difference is climate, geography and sheer size and relative economic leverage.

That is why New England people favor big central goverment its easier for them to let nearby Washington handle theses constant issues then use what little leverage they have to address it.

I don't think many Europeans can understand the nature of these issues and why different regions need such different policy.

@goaded 'We' refers to the 50 States (Including their 330 million people), and until that Constitutional contract is abolished and replaced with a new one to which we consent, the agreement therein remains the only consent to be governed at the federal level.

I don't think you quite understand it is not sheer numbers that make the states different and self-governable but Geographic size and resources.
When our States first established themselfs as independent from the British Empire they had only around 2 million people between them. The largest being Virginia had around ~447+ thousand (Fewer than Wyoming the smallest state) while the smallest being Georgia with only around ~ 23+ thousand.

They were all self-governing because they had all the land and resources to operate and thus Govern themselfs independently. This is what makes a State, not the number of its inhabitants which is almost inconsequential.

You can have 3+ million people in a city and indeed a good deal of diversity among them (temporarily) but if they all live together dwelling upon the same local resources in constant interactions, they will not only require a common Government to resolve constant disputes over said common resources, but inevitably lose said diversity as a result of said common interactions, environment and resulting way of life.

The Current Government in Washington D. C. claiming to be the "Federal" Government bares almost no resemblance to that goverment. The near limitless scope of its power is better suited to small relatively homogeneous City-State perhaps the size of New York City.

Ironically New Yorker are part of the reason we have a such a lawless Federal Government as their people have been consistently voting for their federal politicians to govern like they were Local populations demanding they address local problems which their own local politicians have regularly failed to address.

The only reason a more shared goverment would help is because it has fewer New Yorker voting for it policies.
The problem with New York is very much the dysfunctional political culture of the people who live there. This is actually why Texas Cities are for now soo much more successfully because the State of Texas prohibits many of the most harmful polices that the urbanizes of its major cities would otherwise adopt.

Unfortunately most mammals did not evolve to deal with an urban environment, and tend to become anti-social and destroy themselfs with population densities go too high. This makes a lot of sense if you consisted local resource depletion in the state of the wild was a major problem.

Thus why the city has always been an unstable thing thou out history.

Not sure what your referring to as 'dub' but if your thinking a war between the States, The Midwest and west will mostly join the South, which is unlike the North east actually growing and industrialized.

Seeing how difficult the last war was against just the non-industrialized south alone, such a conflict today would not go well for the North East, while the west coast state would find itself in a guerrilla quagmire in the rocky mountains.

That said if a Civil War is coming its likely to be a real Civil War, not a 2nd war between the States. Most states would fall fairly quickly to who ever commands the elite Federal military. So few would openly oppose it. Instead the real war would be a 4th generation conflict like that Washington just lost in tiny Iraq and Afghanistan.
