It is easy to feel angry at them because they appeared to have sold out, and by doing so kicked the can down the road. I remember being told in school, "the world is a huge mess and your gen is to clean it up" talk about demoralizing.

Anyway the Gen Xers that followed them fell back into the shadows and were overlooked as being the saviors of the world, this was bestowed onto the Millennial gen. Where are the Xers now? I don't know, they are akin to the silent generation, just absent observers who from time to time stir the pot.

I am a Xennial... a micro gen person, supposedly a bridge generator (both non tech and tech gen) that is to be the middle persons who unite the old way with the new. It seems futile as the newer generations are heavily dependent on the tech and don't see the usefulness of being disconnected.

Try not to hate, because inevitably you become like those you hate in the long run.

yep maybe. I think I agree. Too bad most people don't see it that way, and it drives me crazy. Especially when they go on about "kids these days". As if that was some kind of news that hasn't been whined about since the begining of time. People love and live to hate I guess. Especially those that may happen to know something more that they are ignorant about.

It seems strange to dislike people based on when they were born.

Of course just looking at the ones in that rough age group here there is an inflated sense of accomplishment for a generation that, apart from its own size, didn't do a whole lot relative to other generations despite having had the arguably easiest time of any generation in human history.

As for things that relate to me? Probably just a frequent inability, or lack of desire, to consider perspectives other than their own. Oh, and of course being one of the two generations that people in CS dread.

I don't hate them. But I hate a large percentage of my generation and the next. Simply because they act like a bunch of entitled toddlers that expect everything to be handed to them and act like being offended is the end of the world. They are also weak to the point they are unable to stand on their own and can hardly think for themselves. Because they are so worried about not being part of whatever group they are part of.

I have a lot of respect for our elders and even their life experience that can be full of wisdom, but the one thing I would definitely hold against them is their attitude that life is or should be easy for the younger generation, especially if you're single. They're still remembering the days when food, gas, and rent were cheaper and finding a good job was not so difficult, so they literally think because you're young and single that it should be just as easy for you.
