DOES LEGAL AID HELP YOU TO DIVORCE?

I couldn’t get legail aid to help me divorce. I had 5 phone appointments & they said since there’s no domestic voilence or kids involved then they can’t help me. They can only help me if the guy agrees to divorce. if he’ll fights the divorce then I need go to the self help center to file to divorce. I’m so confused. I repeat 100 times I want to divorce and we don’t live together and they just ask me questions of fighting or if he hits me. I say no to everything so didn’t qualify, but we are enemies no contact with each other we hate each other !!!

Legal aid is primarily designed to help people who are being victimized and need legal guidance to file the necessary legal actions to protect themselves. It wasn't really designed to save you the $$$ of hiring a divorce attorney. See if you can find a divorce attorney with reasonable fees and just have him or her take care of it for you. If you can't afford their fees, they may likely be able to refer you to someone who charges less. But remember, you get what you pay for and if there are assets from the marriage you want to make sure you retain, it may be worth your while to hire someone that knows what he or she is doing..

You might also want to talk to the county clerk's office and see what forms are needed to formally file for divorce in whatever jurisdiction you live in. It may be simple enough that you can figure it out on your own.

If you BOTH want the divorce there is absolutely NO reason why they shouldn’t grant it to you.

But the legal aid denied me to divorce there so now I need go to a self help place. Can u explain wtf is a self help place? Will I finally be able to divorce there the same day I fill out papers? They said there u will out forms? I don’t get it. So I fill out papers there to divorce & pay money same day so divorce gets filled?
