In what circumstances should divorce be permitted?

Like abuse, infidelity.

For these reasons only:

• Adultery
• Abandonment for a certain length of time
• Prison confinement
• Physical inability to have sexual intercourse (if this condition existed before the marriage, but the spouse hid the condition)
• Physical or emotional abuse
• Drug or alcohol addiction

We also need to remove the incentives for women to divorce. In the US today, divorce overwhelmingly benefits women and harms men, which is why women file 80% of divorces and the suicide rate among middle aged men is skyrocketing.

Divorce should be permitted, however “no fault divorce” has played a significant role in the rot of our society. With the exception of an equal dissolution, abuse or infidelity, the person filing should be at the disadvantage. As long as people can divorce at the first sign of trouble and be rewarded in the courts system for it, society will continue to deteriorate and marriage will cease to exist.

No one's obligated to be married if they don't want to. Any reason one person wants out is sufficient.

i go by biblical guidance and cheating and abuse are two of the four ground reasons for divorce

Any circumstance. I just don't think child support and alimony should be a thing. Custody should always be 50/50 too.

I have no problem with divorce on demand. My issue is with the lack of penalty for the one who violates the agreement.
