I collected unemployment for 18 months and when it ran out I was still unemployed and I could not get an extension or find another way to get a paycheck. I dont know how they do it.

I don't know how they're getting by but they're not working because employers aren't offering enough money for their labour. I don't care what the economists say with their standard media talking points, if you talk to people on social media about why they're either not working or not working much, this is the reason. It's a labour revolution of sorts, albiet a quiet one. The early labour revolts that spawned the unions involved a lot of physical sacrifice, like picketing in the rain and snow and brawling in the streets as our grandfathers were a tough lot. But here in 2022 it's a passive revolt. What they're doing is suffocating the labour force simply by bowing out of it. Just stay home and see how everybody operates at partial capacity. This is why supply chains are being choked into oblivion because there aren't enough people working to keep it rolling.

Everything costs a fortune and wages haven't budged for years. I don't believe in a " living" wage, because that's too subjective. But I believe in a decent wage. I believe in wages that at least try and keep up with inflation, that aren't insulting to workers. And people just aren't being offered that. They're being offered the same shit pay they've been offering for the last 30 fucking years. And then they wonder why nobody wants to work for them. I'm a department manager where I work and I worked 28 years to get where I am, and I can tell you trying to motivate workers when they're making paltry wages is inpossible. I don't care how many nifty, motivational slogans and bullshit platitudes that are plastered onto the walls, if they're not being paid well enough you aren't gonna motivate them. Period. I've tried to get these people more money but my bosses will have none of it. I'm just supposed to motivate them with my smooth words and glowing personality. Just find the inspiration for them somewhere. Fucking idiots. They've been in the high seats too long and have forgotten what really motivates workers, and that's money and nothing else. A fair wage. A fucking raise more than once every ten years. It's the same motivation our grandfathers had when they started the unions. Well the young people of today are revolting for the same reasons, they're just revolting in a different way. And they're gonna do a lot of damage if merchants and employers don't wake up.

I sort of enjoy that no one wants to work. Most jobs are soul sucking and you have to put up with degrading shit constantly, all for what—so you can barely pay your bills, buy food, and put gas in your car to get to work? And somewhere some asshole just bought another private island, another a super yacht, and why another sumbitch is even building his own space ship!

So no, I absolutely do not begrudge anyone who sees no point in “hustling” like a goddamn maniac to barely make ends meet so some rich fuck can do another line of coke off some model’s tits. That’s work in America.

I'd LOVE to get a job but, in my present situation, I just can't! The axe just might fall at any moment and completely screw me out of any job I might be able to get. But, aside from that, all the cards are, once again, stacked against me! even GETTING a job!
