Context:

Matt Walsh had an Anti-trans rally in Nashville that objected to sex reassignment surgeries for minors. He was met by a pro-trans group who came to protest against his rally. Within said protest, a trans woman, in her 30's, can be seen yelling at an elderly, biological woman holding a sign stating "mutilation=/=science". The transwoman tells her that she is ugly and looks like her teeth were knocked out, called her a fascist and wished she dies alone and burns in hell.

The elderly woman kept on smiling as she was being berated and kept her sign high in the air.

What would you do in this situation?

Classic example of what's going on with the extremists at the moment. This isn't about trans rights. It's about hate.

Group a says "We're against sex reassignment for minors"

The correct response is " good for you, you're against something that never happens, you utter waste of time and space. Next week you can rally against Voldemort joining the Sith or something"

Instead group B which claims its fighting for trans rights, loses thir SHIT at the idiots and has a good 30 minute of hate.

Qhats the likely outcome? Group b goes away feeling like they accomplished something and repeating lies about how trans hate groups are everywhere and must be fought. Group a, the idiots, know even less about trans people, care less about trans rights, and think Group b are hate filled idiots.

What would I do? Walk away from both groups.

I wouldn't be anywhere near a protest. Civil conversations and the free exchange of ideas and views will always do more then a protests. All of the protests and counter protests are a great example of people sliding backwards into tribalism. Tribalism simply isn't compatible with the modern world and has not been for generations. Unfortunately with how things are going us sliding backwards will have to lead to some seriously negative effects before a lot of people get it. Just don't expect any help of sympathy from me when it gets to that point. Because you won't get one or the other

I have a Trump sticker on my truck. People usually honk at me and give me a big thumbs up. One day this woman honks at me and I give her a big wave. Sheflollows me into the dump and when I got out of my truck she gets out and starts telling me that it is people like me that are destroying this country and tells me what a facist Trump is and I am just as bad. There is a difference between an Anti-Trans rally and just protesting against gender reassignment for minors. I’m strongly against providing gender reassignment surgery for minors but I’m not Anti Trans, if it was an anti trans rally then I don’t really know what he expected ( not excusing the behavior)
