u One video does not prove that all cops are cowards. But even with the bravest of law enforcement officers, it will take time for them to arrive in force, penetrate the perimeter, locae and identify the shooter, and take him out. In the meanwhile, all sane person should be acting to protect themselves.
It doesn't prove all cops are cowards, but it does prove that they cannot be counted on when going gets tough. More than 100 police officers responded to the Uvalde school shooting, and none of them confronted the suspect in spite of overwhelming numbers and firepower. Meanwhile, a concealed carrier with nothing more than a handgun brought down an active shooter at a mall from 40 yards. Your life is in your hands, and no one else's.
Well, maybe not all, but the ones that were there sure were. I've never seen such a bunch of sniveling cowards. They ran like scared rabbits down the hall while kids were screaming and dying and this guy did maximum damage, and without being challenged once. "To serve and protect" ? Ha! What a joke.
@Daniela1982 I agree with what you said; I just don't see it as an indictment of ALL cops everywhere. There are brave cops who acted quite the opposite on other occasions, other locations.
And I agreed and said not all cops. Then there was that other guy at a school shooting who hung around outside and never even tried to gain access to engage the shooter. I think he got disgraced and fired.
It seems more like it was expected of them to react that slow, there seems to be a vested interest in that blood shed, I don't know whose hand is in it, but clearly it has some higher motive that I failed to understand.

HAHAHAHAHA... I can see they were constantly waiting in the video, seems like they were waiting for a higher command or approval OR else they might be real cowards and uninterested due to the demoralisation and defunding after BLM riots. I believer the former to be the case than latter.

I don't depend on the police for anything, they are almost never helpful. Take hours to respond to calls, and even then rarely catch the criminal.
The job of police is to figure out who did the crime, gather evidence, arrest the criminal and get it over to be prosecuted.
Protection is your own job, don't outsource that to someone else.
They may try to help but that isn't their primary job to protect.
Although this is the first time I have seen a school that someone can just walk in like that. ALL the elementary schools here, have a single entrance/exit that has the front desk behind some sort of glass (No idea if it is bullet proof, but probably not.)
No one can just walk right in like that, a gunman would have to come and be buzzed in to even get past the front desk or open fire right there, which would give teachers time to lock doors if they heard it.
There is a panic push button under the desk to that contacts 911 if something happens and a phone call can't be made.
These were put in starting in the 80's, not because of mass shooters but because of people walking into schools and kidnapping kids from the hallways. Non custodial parents also taking their kids... or people pretending to be picking someone up for the real parents.
The only schools that are not that way yet are the high schools, as it is less likely for someone to walk into a high school and try to kidnap a teenager.
Conceal carry is allowed in schools here too and no mass shooter would have a clue who is carrying and who isn't. Maybe that is why there has never been a school shooting here. There has been a school stabbing, one student to another but that's it.
I live rural, if a drunk guy was screaming he was going to rape me and beating on my door, it could take police up to 90 minutes to show up. Even when I lived in the big city it was still up to 15 minutes... and when someone did a drive by shooting of my apartment and car, the police didn't even bother to dig the bullets out to run tests. Filled out a report to give to insurance to get my car fixed and moved on, they didn't care who actually did it.
Anyone who depends on police is what I call a victim.
I am with the drive by shooting and calling police for other things. Not saying police are bad, just that they aren't all that helpful in a extremely urgent situations.
I really did expect them to take the drive by shooting serious, dig the bullets out, run them and see if they could track at least the gun down to other crimes, not so much an owner.
No, and I am in law enforcement (Correction's Officer). It is not about whether or not I trust the police to do their job. I do trust them. However, police are reactionary, not proactive unless they themselves see the crime unfold right in front of them. Let me explain what I mean in the next paragraph:
In a mass shooting situation (or any crime), the mass shooter has both the element of surprise AND the first strike. First, the criminal makes a decision. Once that decision is made and they choose to act on it, THEN a call to 911 happens. When 911 is called, it is NOT a police officer on the line, but a dispatcher. The dispatcher has to gather information (type of emergency, location, is it police, fire, ems or all 3 needed) from someone who is panicking and may/may not be telling the dispatcher accurate information. Only THEN does the dispatcher contact police and ONLY then do police mobilize, but ONLY AFTER preparing for the correct amount of force. When all of that is done, THEN they still have to physically get themselves to the scene in whatever traffic conditions and obstacles are physically between them and the scene. While all of this is taking place, the mass shooter is basically free to do whatever he wants. Keep in mind most schools either lack armed security/police or only have 1-2 of them and those people typically only have a handgun while most mass shooters are bringing in rifles and the element of surprise.
In the scenario above, police cannot respond fast enough unless they are on scene already and many agencies are too short-staffed to have an entire precinct of cops at a school constantly AND protect a city at the same time. If I am ever forced to deal with a mass shooter, I want my own weapon and the ability to choose whether or not I engage the threat rather than just sit and pray they miss me while I wait helplessly. This is why I believe teachers need to be armed. I'm not saying teachers should go hunt down the shooter. I'm saying they should be armed in the event the shooter reaches their classroom before police do so they have the option to fight back rather than either being a meat shield for a student or being forced to stand and watch a student die. Teachers undergo strict background checks to teach so if they can secure a teaching position in the first place then it should be no problem to arm them.
No, police are too hesitant to be sued or lose their life... isn't worth it. Many are there for the paycheck and retirement. Why should they risk it when they don't get support? It's certain personalities and trainings that would be aggressive to take the person down... remember "toxic masculinity"... yes those guys, and some women who have high honor. Ones that have wrong personality, trained for traffic tickets, forget it. Need the right persons for the job, but those people are being kicked in the teeth at times by society when they make mistakes. So you gotta protect them when they do and help train society how to respond properly to officers.
Most officers won't even pursue your stolen goods anymore.

It's like the police in California. Thanks to Newsome, even if they get caught they let them right back out without bail, so they are free to keep doing it. The same with smash and grab. They are out the same day, which is why it keeps happening.

You suppose you can create a world where everything is done for you by others, be it providing your security to even just paying your bills. You must also suppose those others are both capable and inclined to provide said services.
In reality that is not always the case, either because you choose a poor service provider or in the case of Goverment services because others choose poorly or only for themselfs.
The police are of course a goverment service and as such like every other goverment service are subject to the whim, interest, and competent of the people who choose how they are managed. AKA every other voter voting for every other issue the same goverment controls.
Cops can only do so much and the way things are today most cops would not act if they were not specifically told to do so by the chief. They are afraid of being fired and loosing their pensions and maybe even incarceration. In this case I am more inclined to blame the chief who was not a real cop and just a political appointee. It was his inaction that was to blame for this tragedy.
For as long as America puts a gun in the hands of literally everyone, such things will continue to happen and will escalate. My country has a strict policy who can own a gun and such a thing has never happened here. AFAIK other European countries also have strict policies about owning a gun.
Despite what many Americans think, the gun isn't a solution, it's the cause of problems. There are other ways for self defense which are much safer and not as permanent as killing the attacker, like this electrical device, I think the word for it was "tazer". Enough to stun the attacker, so that you can get away.
It depends on how they should help me. To get out of the way no. To stop the shooter yes. But I come from a country where police officers are at least two in a car and there are rare situations where a cop is alone.

No, I don't really depend on the police to preserve our lives. And the worst part is that in Germany we are all disarmed, so shall a shooting spree occur, we are easy targets. And I don't like it.

Depends on the situation. But I feel like if I felt like I had any advantage, I'd take it. But I'd wanna get close to the shooter.

There’s not much to depend on. Swat could swarm the school within minutes and take the young white guy out. But that’d be rare. Or we arm all teachers and students who would wildly open fire and cause even more death. So no really good options…except gun control.

One hit can take down a policeman. They should move slow and efficiently rather than charge right into a killbox. They too have a family, they too have valuable lives. So, they shouldn't charge in for the slaughter. I too agree they shouldn't simply sit on the sidelines.
No. Police officers are humans and they are naturally are going to look out for themselves first and not be so fast to put themselves in a risky position especially in regards to their life.
