So all you people who “don’t trust cops” you should contact the non-emergency line of your local and state police departments your names excluded from 911 dispatch emergency. Seriously it would help cut down on wasted resources. Let Darwinism work it’s magic.
And when someone breaks into your home just call a crackhead instead. Also I hope your reliable crackhead savior gets there in time given you same people are usually anti-gun and good luck protecting yourself if the intruder is armed.
Also for you genius leftist women out there who are anti-police and anti-cop: well I really hope your pepper spray works out when a man attacks you in the on the street or breaks into your house to sexually assault you. Seriously good luck.

@blueonblack22 Ever heard of The Public Duty Doctrine? It is a legal principle that states that government officials, including police officers, absent a special relationship, do not owe a specific duty of care to individual members of the public. You might want to look it up if you think the police are there to protect you or anyone else as an individual. I used to trust the cops right up until I found out that they may or may not help you, depending on what side of the bed they got up on that morning. They sure as hell didn't help me when I was held captive and violently assaulted. They had the guy in their custody, but wouldn't arrest him because I knew him. At least that was the reason that was given. The Assistant DA even used my case in a police training class routinely given to local officers. It was the example of how not to respond to a call. Even so, I couldn't sue and they still, even though instructed that a case like mine should be handled differently, were not legally obligated to do anything to protect me or any other individual member of the public.
You're a moron. If its an emergency they show their best face! Hero mode activated! When theyre pulling over a Hispanic kid in a BMW not so much.
@Caroline91 his moniker alone shows his leanings: " @blueonblack22 " he's a cop worshipping bigot
or, he likes the song.
If you trust cops I question if you have any relationships with other adult human beings at all. A lot of people I talk to can tell you many, many stories of corruption.. especially before body cameras were a thing.
There are good police officers and I even had one in the same dojo I went to. Great guys.. but if you are a cop and I don't personally know you? I'm going to be wary.
I'm kind of in the 'limited trust" if that makes sense? I think I do support cops recording on duty so their conduct can be evaluated and they can be held accountable in cases of abuse of power or excessive force (because that shit does happen). In general I think there should just be more of an expectation that cops not treat everyone around them as a threat, etc when they're not dealing with a crime, since many cops I've interacted with have been pretty rude for no particular reason and it really does nothing to instill confidence in our law enforcement system. I don't know about the rest of it tbh.
Yeah that everything is a threat and every situation requires MAXIMUM God complex is ridiculous
Do you trust cops?
Fuck no. Why would I trust a bunch of power hungry tyrants that don't even know the laws they pretend to enforce.
Should body cams be mandatory?
Yeah and it should be auto downloaded to a 3rd party site so cops can't wipe the data.
Why are they so ignorant of the law but specialize in violence?
Because they have no standards, so they get the most aggressive assholes to apply.
Why they increasingly militarized?
Because idiots like big guns and armored vehicles.
BEST ANSWER EVER IN HISTORY OF GaG!!
I agree up to all. There are some decent cops. 15%, maybe. I know a few here in small town Texas that have let me get by with a seat belt warning while witnessing me in oncoming traffic racing a 69 Firebird at 90 mph, in town and drunk as a skunk. All I told him was the truth. I knew I was toast so I said to myself fuck it. I had that highway patrol crying from laughing so hard. He had me blow the breath thing. I told him I'm about.2 or better. He said, nah. I blew he grinned and told me to go home. I went to my cousins out of town and then to the beer store. Don't know why. I guess he needed a laugh.

I've probably been arrested more than anyone on this site. Yes I trust cops. I was arrested because I broke the law. That's their job. It's pretty simple. I broke the law and they arrested me.
Do I think body cam should be mandatory? Wouldn't hurt. It's a pretty cheap technology these days. It would not have made any difference in any of my arrests, but it can potentially make a difference in some arrests. There are thousands of cops. The VAST majority mean well. But there are some scumbags who need to be taken off the force.
I spent years selling equipment to first responders. I know literally hundreds of cops. 99% of them are good people who want to help people and serve their communities. There might be 1% that somehow got hired and if they made some mistake or acted inappropriately that ruins it for the rest
Bullshit. They are violent psychopaths drawn to the lure of a monopoly on violence. A get out of jail free card for rape, coercion and racism. They see the worst of humanity and proceed from that assumption. They are PIGNORANT of the law but skilled in militarized violence!!
won't happen. Im in one of the safest areas in the nation - NYC
Why are they so ignorant of the law but specialize in violence? Why they increasingly militarized.
Absolute nonsense.
Because in USA america ANYONE can be a cop with a 2 year degree and be white. They get almost ZERO legal education but lots of violence education
I trust cops because I never had problems with them. The reason they militarized is because to protect whoever from the bad guys they have to be better armed than an attacker. If a school shotter has an AR-15 they can´t confront him with a simple revolver. That doesn´t work they have to be armed with the better weapons.
I also think body cams would be good but also to prove that regularly violence where they are involved is started by others and not them.
I work closely with them.
I'm also a medic that will go in with them, and we trust them to make sure the scene is safe.
You didn't answer the question?
And their crooked buddies covering for them. Theyre the WORST criminals
It’s funny - once body cams started becoming ubiquitous, they by far show that most cops are decent and most suspects are complete POS.
I'm with @dongie
@Dongie @DrPepper12 you can agree with your emotions if you want. But overall the bodycams have exonerated cops more times than not.
Perhaps. I dont know the veracity or source if that claim
how are you over 50 years old and confused about what cops do in their job?
They violate rights, they are unaccountably violent and have a god complex. Im very aware of what they think their job is.
too many are used for revenue generation: speed traps on interstate highways, for example. Too many times, the body cam "malfunctions."
Police unions protect bad cops.
Correct! I've been waiting MONTHS in violation of FOIL laws for info on a corrupt cop
They certainly do. That thin blue line is to protect themselves
same as any other profession... there's good and bad, you can and cannot trust
but, when it comes to police unions and cameras...
they will always protect their own interests and not the people
and we all know about that
In Switzerland I do but in other countries I might hesitate.
Where I live I trust cops, anywhere else not really.
Foreign countries, no I don't but I don't cause problems so I've had no issues.
Body cams are now mandatory here in the UK
As it should be
Yeah, the ones I know. But all the rest, nonono.
Safe and CORRECT answer
I don't trust anyone with authority
You sir are my kinda people!!
Cops protect each other, not the public.
BINGO!!!
