Should the filibuster be done away with so laws can pass quickly in the senate by a simple majority or stay intact, why, why not?

No. Because it will make it easier for one side of the isle to cram their laws through regardless if the consequences of those laws. Also if you think your side of the isle wouldn't take advantage of the lack of a safety measure, you are a fool. If the left wouldn't be doing it, the right would be.
So America isn't a democracy then?
@hispanic
America is a Republic.
I used to think it would be a good idea to get rid of, but it only requires 60 votes, all the party in control needs to do is win over a few, compromise and don't try to pass bills that are so one sided.
It has already been cut down the last several years, so that it is less effective.
I don't think they need to be passing laws non stop... be it on the state level or federal level. Passing non stop laws is why this country has so many laws and everyone is a daily criminal.
No. The Senate was designed to be a more deliberative body than the populist House. If you remove the filibuster, the party in control would ram through its agenda only to see it reversed when the opposition regains control. You would have less stability and continuity within the law.
No. Your political cartoon assumes that only bills that are beneficial are ever proposed by the Senate and the filibuster just gets in the way of great and wonderful things. Whoever wrote it would want the filibuster if someone on the opposite side of the political spectrum proposed a bill that they disagreed with.

No, filibuster is a legitimate legislative tool, when properly used. It can be abused too, and there are other legislative tools that can be used when that happens.
Both sides have benefited from the filibuster at some point in time. It is just some people just can’t see past their long noses when they need to pass something that wouldn’t otherwise make it through!
Nah… that’s a great way to lose control of things hella quick
it is essential we keep it because humans are inherently evil and thus need time to pause and think. that's what the fillibuster gives us
Our country would be so fcked if Democrats could do everything they wanted to
No. lol
