Like a lot of people become doctors because they like to serve society, they know they are serving those who are depressed and in great pain, but the privilege of serving others exceeds the disappointment of knowing some of your patients will die or cannot be fixed. I’ve met people who purposely socialize with poor people that offer no financial or social benefits just because the joy they get from pouring kindness into another life, is all the satisfaction they need.
