It's okay for anyone to say anything; words are words, and only have the power you give them. Will some people be offended? Of course. But there are people who will be offended by any course of action you might ever possibly take. Will you make no distinction between "please don't say that around me" and "no one outside of group X can ever use that word"?

People were offended by 2010's "International 'Everybody Draw Mohammed' Day". That doesn't mean it wasn't okay. I was a participant; I don't know if that website is still up, but the picture I drew and submitted was still up, last I checked. I did that, and I'd do it again- but I don't go around shoving the paper in the face of every Muslim I meet.

It is ok for anyone to say any words, and it's also ok to tell them to fuck off if they insult you.
People are too concerned with controlling what people say, and not concerned enough about remembering to disregard invalid opinions as worthless.

Well, some folks do mind those consequences. Our political climate has forced the breakup of entire families. Some folks would rather cling to their political beliefs than cling to their loved ones.

Of course. But that is the landscape we find ourselves in. Maybe you don't know much about American history. But America's greatest war was the Civil War. A war that literally split families and pitted them against one another over the issue of slavery.

America is unlike other nations, whom greatest conflict was external. Our biggest enemy has always been ourselves.

I was born in and lived almost 25 years in USA. More Americans died in the War Between the States than in both World Wars put together. Many soldiers called informal truces during the War. Slavery is wrong. Splitting of families is wrong. Breaking loved ones for political bullshit is wrong as well. The guy who started the War was just an abolitionist, not a civil rights leader; he would be aight with the ruddy Jim Crow Laws.

There was one Hungarian guy on this website who said he's gonna carry a baseball bat and bash any N worder who tries to beat him up for saying it. They have a completely different mentality over there. I met a girl from Estonia in Barbados, who just kept casually saying it to me. She was like, "We call them "Neegers". It actually sounded sexy when she said it.
Another black exchange student went to Portugal and send an e-mail to her teacher complaining about saying "nlgger" in class, and the teacher shamed her in front of the whole class and pretty much told her, "She's not gonna come to HER country and tell her what to conduct HER lectures in HER classroom."
This is one of the few things I love about Europeans

Even Muslims have begun to admit to me that Islam is NOT a peaceful religion and that most Muslims believe at least some radical principles, and think violence is justified when it comes to defending their honor. Muslims are fine as long as you play by THEIR rules, regardless of where they live. As soon as you start to criticize them, their demeanor completely changes.

It’s either mick or mac. Many Irish surnames are Mc[Something]. However, both Mick (like Sir Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones) and Mac (I’ve read books where that’s one of the characters) are names. The other M-word is Mudbløød (what pure-blooded wizards call other wizards whose both parents are Muggles), which I find way more offensive than n gg@.
