+1 yWhy would being a man suck? The answers I'd get to that is where I'd start to find an answer. Actually since there is just so many answers... I can't even try to figure out solutions. I mean don't get me wrong, I could do the same with why it's great to be a man. I guess removing some of the negative to men double standards would be a start. Like you and me can both kill someone in the same manner and I guarantee I'd get a much larger sentence. If we divorced there's a good chance I'd end up paying child support and losing my kids even though I was the one at home taking care of them while you were out working all the time. Yeah the double standards is a big one... and one that I know affects women in negative ways as well, but I would argue in not as many blatant ways that are nothing but negative. I mean... I just lifted a freezer up 3 flights of stairs. Sure I was able to get it done through brut force, but if I was a chick you already know I would've gotten some help. Getting that help could be seen as a negative, but I think overall it's actually a positive.

+1 yMen have to open up and that isn't easy when you've been taught that you shouldn't. But it starts with men. Stop crying about the help women get. Frankly, whenever I've been in low spirits or just having a very off day, it's always a woman, whether a female friend or a female co-worker that's the first to ask what's wrong and if everything is okay. Nurture is their nature. I think a lot of them would welcome men opening up more and accepting some help. But we assume they don't care. Well you're not gonna know unless you drop the Clint Eastwood bullshit and say something.

What Girls & Guys Said

Here's a big one; we have to stop punishing young men for being boys. Boys need to be getting in fights, chasing after girls, learning how to build stuff, go hunting, and all that. We don't want boys being scared to talk to girls. We don't want boys to be scared of getting into fights. We need to stop trying to educate boys like we educate girls. It doesn't work.
20 Reply413 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Just lay off the whole negative traits of being a dad might help men's mental health and help society itself. And maybe guys will actually like wanna be a dad. Instead of it being a societal beast of burden.

Asker+1 yWhat are the negative traits of being a dad?
- +1 y
Society loves giving being a mom all the glory. And being a dad in this current age is seen as a borderline slave role. If society quit just ragging on fathers when they are there or not there and just appreciate them when they are more. I think more guys would be more open to wanting and having kids.
Cause right now having a kid is just seen as added liability especially if the couple is married. I think that society needs to change this muchless men choose to be the ones to sanatize the human race. By simply not wanting to be a father period. >.>
Asker+1 yMaybe it’s a generational thing. Men in my age group are loud and proud about wanting to be dads. It’s very attractive.
Asker+1 yYeah they’re talking about being excited to be a dad in the future. Not now.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yWe can start by not treating boys like defective girls. It's true, when ever boys are full of energy and less behave then girls, the go too solution is drugs to calm their mood. Did you know, if a boy draws a picture of two pirates sword fighting? It's automatic suspension with boy being sent for physiological evaluation.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yDecriminalize "sex work" so that it is easily accessible and inexpensive for men. I guarantee that my mental health would improve if I simply got one erotic massage and a blowjob per month. Do you think I'm kidding?
Asker+1 yI don’t think it would be inexpensive though. Those women will still want to make their money through the men desperate enough to pay for sex work.
Opinion Owner+1 yI have sports injuries that necessitate physical therapy. I am not desperate for sessions but need them. Sex work should be priced as therapy and maybe covered by insurance like psychological counseling. Sexual outlets are simply unavailable to some men.
Asker+1 yMaybe those men should be more desirable so they don’t have to be desperate enough to pay for sex
Asker+1 yAnd no buying hookers is not therapy. Maybe get some actual mental help instead.
Opinion Owner+1 yMaybe it's not about "measuring up" to an arbitrary standard. There are things nobody can make better. Like the song says: "When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around."
And desperation is a negative value judgment on your part. Sometimes it's just the way things are. Like needing heart medicine. Betting you are a "karen".

+1 yEducation. Encourage more young boys to ask questions and learn rather than being insecure and anxious
14 Reply- +1 y
I don't think its about young guys or young gals asking more questions. I think its more a matter of holding the teachers to a higher degree and as a society we need to invest in education more. As at least in the US on average a garbage man is paid TWICE what a teacher earns in wages and makes about 100x the reasources.
- +1 y
I was actually not thinking of public education. I meant within the nuclear family and those kinda support systems. Parents need to step up more and be active in their kids lives.. not rely on schools to boost their mental health
- +1 y
Yep it’s not just one way of improving. Teachers and school is one way. But grandparents, cousins, friends… all aspects of a guys social network have to help him realize mental health is important and not leave him feeling alone or depressed.

Asker+1 yHow?
Opinion Owner+1 yThere are endless female only clubs, housing, funding, shelters, support groups, government programs, health funding and programs, social campaigns, etc…
Maybe if society did even a little of this for men, it would help.
Maybe if society wasn’t bias against men and gave them equal parental rights, didn’t rob them financially through divorce courts, believe women without evidence when they make claims against men, etc
If society treated men less like they were disposable and didn’t blame them and hold them responsible for the stupid choices and actions of females, men wouldn’t end up on the streets, they wouldn’t end up penniless, they wouldn’t end up with nothing, they wouldn’t end up broken and without support or help.
They wouldn’t have to turn to suicide as the only alternative to being societies scapegoat.
Asker+1 yIt’s women not “females”. But point made. Not sure if I agree with all of it but most of it a I do. Thanks for sharing.
Opinion Owner+1 yIt’s females when I feel like saying females. It is a proper term for female humans.
i say male just as often and never has a male been triggered or played victim because of a word.
What parts do you not agree with since it seems pretty logically and easy to verify.

Asker+1 yInteresting that you are using women to justify males’ failures. I guess men aren’t that strong and dominant after all. Thanks for sharing!
Asker+1 yI didn’t flip anything around. Just quoting what you said. I agree with another user. What men need is deep therapy and counseling so they could learn how to logically solve their problems and take accountability. Good luck to you. Seems like you need it :)
Asker+1 yThanks man who will die alone❤️

Asker+1 yThe only one offended and petty is you. You literally said men can’t take accountability and I just reiterated that. Be mad at yourself.
Asker+1 ySounds like a man who doesn’t take accountability. Sad.
