It was necessary for a while to control the spread of Covid, particularly before we had a vaccine. Of course, it’s not foolproof, but it seems pretty evident that a mask on two people > a mask on one of two people > no one wearing a mask. Like that’s just common sense, I don’t need to be a doctor to figure that out.
Apparently we’ve got it under control enough, enough people are vaccinated, and the present predominant variants of the virus seem less harmful, so we can cool out a little.
This whole experience has just changed the way I look at infectious disease. To even get a common cold…. that’s like the worst non-tragedy that can happen to me. Absolutely nothing I hate more than being sick, and I’d say one of my Top 3 goals in life is aversion of any and all illness. Even before Covid, I always respected the way some Asian countries have a custom of wearing a mask when you’re sick and venture out into public. I just think that’s so respectful and admirable, and shows genuine concern for others and that you’re a decent enough person to tolerate some minor discomfort, even for the sake of strangers. That is EXACTLY the type of world I want to live in and the type of people I want to live amongst. So I’m going to “be the change I want to see in the world” (corny😂) and I will always mask up in public if I have a cold. That probably won’t be reciprocated, but I’ll feel like a better person for it. I’m never going to not sanitize my hands after using any sort of public handle or buttons (doors, gas pumps, ATMs, debit card machine keypads, etc). I realized more than ever how absolutely gross and disgusting everyone around me is, and I just don’t want to share anything with them, I hate that I even have to breathe the same air😂
Did you wear a mask before Covid and have this deep concern for germs and communicable air borne diseases?
No. Of course you didn’t. Because you’re a virtue-signaling hypocrite.
@Agagagagaga What I’d say is that, before Covid, I would’ve felt awkward wearing a mask, mostly because I’m not Asian, weirdly, lmao. Like I feel like a white dude in a mask would have gotten weird looks before Covid, just because you never saw it. But if you saw an Asian person in a mask, I would figure they were probably FROM Asia and were just observing their usual custom from back home. And I used to remark that it was admirable well before Covid, I guess I just didn’t have the balls to do it myself and get weird looks even though it was to help others, not me. But now that we’ve experienced Covid, I don’t care so much that someone might see me and think “hurr-durrrrr, that pussy is scared of Covid”, I just didn’t want people to be like “who is that lunatic in a surgical mask?” pre-2020. It’s not to virtue signal, I know most people won’t know I’m doing it to simply not transmit a cold to others and will think I’m just protecting myself from Covid. I’m choosing to do it because I think it’s a dick move to not care if you get other people sick, even minor illness. It’s just being considerate, the same as I’d hold a door for someone entering/exiting behind me. I’m an admitted germaphobe, but the mask doesn’t help me, it only helps me if others wear a mask too, and I unfortunately don’t expect that consideration because it’s not a custom of courtesy here, I just wish it was. I’ll never understand why people just trying to be considerate or decent gets spun around and demonized, it’s really fucking weird. I don’t need any pats on the back, I don’t even care if anyone knows, it just happened to be relevant here so I mentioned it. GAG is like 75% clowns, if I’m being generous, so I really could not possibly be any less concerned with what anyone here thinks of me, positively or negatively, just lmfao.
Never masked. I knew it for what it was the moment people started doing it: a psychological comfort-mask to make people “feel” like they can actually do something in the face of illness, which we know strikes everyone despite our best efforts. Sooner or later we get a cold, someone gets strep throat, the flu starts going around, and someone gets pneumonia and dies.
So that’s why you have to wear a mask when you stand up at a table, but not when you’re sitting down. 👍
Very scientific. 😂
It made sense at first when the pandemic first broke out but truth be told it didn't make much of difference. People where who wore it still caught it, I wear one everyday at work and still caught. But I guess that shouldn't be a surprise when you work in a hospital. Even people I know who wear a mask everyday and got the vaccine still caught it so at the point its just like.. well what now?
Social distancing was nice. I never liked strangers standing too close to me in lines or crowds. This gave me an excuse to create a bubble around me, lol.
I never really cared one way or the other about masks. They never bothered me at all. I took the opportunity to make some money on the side sewing cool, uniquely patterned masks for people.

I understand the social distancing thing.. That is what most people, in the past did that were sick and cared enough not to carelessly pass a sickness on to someone else. Also, during flu and cold seasons. People would avoid crowds whenever possible to keep from getting sick. Without having an overpaid “Expert “ telling us to do so!
The Covid parties were just down right stupid!
Wearing masks might have helped if people actually had masks that were appropriate for the virus and wore them properly!!! With wearing “properly” being the important word!
Shutting down the travelers from entering the country isn’t a new thing. I can remember preventing people from Japan from entering the US at one time account of a flu or virus.
With world wide trade and tourism. This will need to happen more often to prevent world wide pandemics! Rather people like it or not!
I don't hate it but I also don't like love it because I wear glasses and when I have a mask on my glasses get fogged up and I remember being really happy when I heard that face masks were going to become optional at school
Masks may have had some value but the conflicting rules and the hypocrisy of our so called leaders negated any good that could have come from them. Social distanceing was just a joke.
LMAO
Oh, it's way worse than that. I live in a fairly large city, and to this day the left doors are locked. Imagine going to a restaurant that has two doors that swing open. Well, because of Covid, they locked the left door. This is a city-wide phenomena. And at the Walmart I shop at, they closed the entire bank of left doors. (Maybe 6 doors)(I'm not sure if "bank" is the right word, but you get the point)
And once in the store, they had arrows in the isles. Isles became one-way streets. lol
Neither you or I are as smart as Fauci, but I guess that even bat viruses have a code of ethics As long as you move in a certain direction in a store, the virus will leave you alone.
I'm not saying that the virus wasn't real, but the response to the virus was beyond stupid.
Obviously there are - as always - a number of dynamic factors in play: What is the local infection rate, how strong are the vaccinations against current virus mutations, how many people have to be hospitalized, how many end up in the ICU...
I think Biden should quit fingering little girls that he makes sit on his lap
I still wear masks whenever I go out. My mum has cancer and I visit her everyday, so I do not want to put her at risk. Wearing a mask for a few hours is not going to kill me.
You’re a good daughter to take care of your mother. I hope she beats the cancer.
Her cancer is almost gone, and her chemotherapy sessions will end this year. Thank you for the kind words. 😊
i thought that stuff was over since like ages ago
I think it's stupid.
Doctor fauci doesn't seem to need a mask, and neither does Gavin newsome!
Apparently it can jump Is from desk to desk and school classrooms Requiring smaller class sizes and more teachers Union hires, but it can't jump the same or less distance in the school cafeteria?
Never did it, never will.
I don’t think either is necessary
Obviously not everyone had to wear them.
I think it’s pretty easy to do
The only thing Biden does well is looking old and decrepit and depressing
It's the smart thing to do.
Oh, I just realized this is a bash biden post.
Didn’t do anything good. We were lied to
It's no longer needed.
