Actual prisoners yes but then most are probably about to die. I think the difference between interned Japanese American prisoners was how they were treated and the amount of freedom they had while interned.
I mean you could not compare the experience American& British pows had in Japanese prisoner camps were they were beaten, starved, murderered, executed and worked to death.
It's not unreasonable or unusual for a nation at war to intern citizens with links to the countries they are at war with ie Germans in Britain at the start of ww1&2 were interned as much for their own protection.
If you still haven't figured it out, but United States of America is, was and always will be a brutal, bloody war machine. United States will Never give a cent to anyone, not Japanese, not African Americans, not even Native Indians, Ok I'll admit, they gave something, but they took everything and more back. United States doesn't give, unless it can take it back, but more.
No! What's done is done and can't be undone. In the 1940s and 1950s, Asians were treated worse than blacks. Nevertheless, modern Asians are doing just fine. Blacks would be too, if they had Asian IQs. As for slavery, all races have been slaves with Asians slaves in China being treated worse than most black slaves in most other parts of the world.
I think just a sufficient apology, some kind of compensation and good education would be fine but paying reparations would set a precedent and, as someone from the uk, i don't want to spend the next 100+ years paying all the people we've hurt or pissed off because that's like a 500+ year old history and we're too poor for that haha

> What’s the difference with ancestors of slaves?
First off, I assume you meant decedents. Secondly, difference is you're not punishing people who did nothing wrong in order to reward people who did nothing right. Being born a descendant of a person who was mistreated does not give you special treatment privileges. People who actually went trough stuff, sure, get the money from people who actually mistreated you. Their great grandkids, hell no.
The Japanese Americans got reparations.
And I think Black Americans individuals who lived under Jim Crow should be given a check as reparations. When it comes to communities that have been impacted by practices like Red-lining, the governing bodies of the communities should be given compensation.
I wouldn’t expect much. It was wartime. They were treated badly but like a hilton that burning hot or freezing desert camp was compared to innocents on the other side.
Huell Howser ran a good episode on the camp survivors. One interviewed was allowed his camera at the time and had documented his experience there.
Absolutely, but it should be on a voluntary basis, and you wouldn't contribute a single dime.
I’m not sure about POWs but I do think that Japanese Americans held in internment camps should get reparations
everyone needs free reparations!!! you can't reparate without them and we need to let politicians know this. thank you and god bless america
No If you weren't the person who was imprisoned or enslaved then your not entitled to reparations. The Japanese were extremely cruel to their prisoners and world war 2 anyway.
I don’t believe in reparations, period. It’s an offensive and ridiculous concept, akin to little more than an extorted fine for a sum which satisfies no one.
Do you mean Americans who were prisoners of the Japanese?
Winners don't pay reparations
How much are you going to donate?
Any that are still alive should get something.
yes - they did nothing wrong.
nope.
