If someone breaks into your house, you have to retreat and exhaust all reasonable avenues of escape before you can exercise deadly force.
If that applied to me, and I had someone break in to hurt me, I'd have to run out into the woods, possibly at night. I'd have to either run half a mile to a neighbor who hates me and hope he will help, or I'll have to run for over half an hour to the main road, then either hope a car comes or run a few more hours to town. But if caught again, I might be justified in shooting them. Might.
That's a BS law. Needs to go.
Sounds easier just to shoot them, dig a hole in the forest and bury them... less paperwork too.
Guess if it came to it there would be exhaustive arguments about what is "reasonable"... Yeah, that's a load of horse crap.
Why does your neighbour hate you? Or why do you feel they hate you?
Good forests make good neighbours then. Carry on.
are you serious? time to move to New Hampshire...
Section 32 of the Salmon Act 1986 it is illegal "to handle a salmon in suspicious circumstances".
Now obviously this is to do with poaching. But if you buy a salmon in a shop, even a fillet and don't get a receipt you could be fined if your caught with it. Worse still if it's in your car they have the legal right to seize your vehicle.
The images that came to mind when reading this LOL thank you for sharing. I do want to protect the salmon, but what a funny law.
I once talked in person to a retired fisheries officer who arrested a woman in a clothes shops changing rooms because she couldn't explain where she got the salmon in her bag from.
oh my gosh. luck wasn’t on her side that day.
I can't think of any US laws that's that dumb, besides maybe still outlawing prostitution (that should've been legalized as far back as the seventies; even if I don't like it). But one thing that 100% SHOULD be illegal, is lobbying. It's insane how you can legally bribe and coerce the government into passing laws and bills that you want, and how most Americans don't even have an issue with that. How TF is lobbying NOT illegal? !
As far as South Korea goes, porn is technically illegal. But most people just use a VPN anyway.
Yes lobbying bribing and coercion should all be illegal. unfortunately people are selfish… and i didn’t know it was illegal in South Korea, interesting
This right here is something I have been calling out for the last few elections, Lobbyist and elected officials should have a no contact law enforced upon them. Any form of communication. If they are lobbying for something, go through the proper public channels (as there should be full transparency in all actions taken by someone in an office elected by the people*In addition to elected officials being demoted to the same wage as set by the minimum{see how quick things change there}*). Any violation of resulting in jail time or something to the same effect, in addition to losing the seat they were elected to.
Despite having castle doctrine, we need to give a verbal warning and call the police when someone breaks into your house and you cannot use deadly force until all options have been exhausted.
@Agape93 I am in the same boat with. That is bullshit. Someone breaks into your house it is not good intentions and as far as I am concerned they forfeit their right to live.
Honorable mention: Being at an at fault state for accidents. You can be liable if you are involved and it was a freak accident or collateral damage
@Agape93 see, that is crazy. I find it odd apartment unit holders can't do shit, but if it is their actual house or car it is then a green light.
Man, if someone tries to get into your residence regardless if it is a house, home or vehicle they are shitbags that should be taken out, especially if armed.
Where the heck do you live that this is all necessary?

Four Pennsylvania USA laws that are just plain weird
A bedroom may not be more than 200 feet from a bathroom. ...
Fortune telling is illegal for personal gain. ...
No purchasing of vehicles on Sundays. ...
Catching fish with your bare hands is illegal.
https://www.abc27.com/pennsylvania/four-pennsylvania-laws-that-are-just-plain-weird/
I'm not exactly sure about the number, but I believe that 16 states still have laws against sodomy.
I read about a husband that was arrested for doing this with his own wife, and in his own living room. Talking about a victimless crime. lol
oh interesting. i wasn’t aware of that. i know in the past there used to be like police who would monitor peoples’ sexual practices and anal and homosexuality were definitely against the rules, but i wasn’t aware there were still laws against that
Believe it or not, the law defines sodomy as any sex act that isn't geared toward making a baby. The guy who got arrested wax giving oral to his wife.
Hmm… I mean, I don’t follow up with everything, but the most recent would probably be the legalization of certain drugs, like “mari-John-uhhh” lol that’s just me looking for something to complain about- I really don’t feel infringed in any way. 🤷‍♀️
yeah i’m not a fan of weed either or any drug for that matter. it’s good to feel that your daily life isn’t being infringed
In Montana Guiding sheep onto a railroad track with an intent to injure the train can get you five years in prison or a $50,000 fine. Illegal for married women to go fishing on Sundays and unmarried women can't fish alone at all lol. And it's was recently removed but there was a law that said if seven or more native Americans were together it was considered a war party and it was legal to shoot them. Racist and gross and now gone thank God
whaaaaa how insane. the sheep one is sadistic to the sheep so i can understand that. the fishing ones for women seem so backwards. and the native American ones i’m just speechless. that God that law was removed. scary to think just how racist the laws were in the past
Oh yea it's terrifying. And you don't really think racism when you think montana, but native Americans are forced into incredibly marginalized communities. We have the poorest reservations in the U. S. I'm sure. Think homes without roofs wild dogs everywhere and the only real income available are gas stations on the reservation for people going to national parks. Thay law was abolished in the late 2010s too. NOT long ago
Here is two really weird ones from my county in my state. I have always found these to be the most obvious common sense things as in what not to do, but apparently we needed laws against them.
It is illegal to bring a mule onto a trolley car.
It is illegal to sleep in a refrigerator.
Not just don't do it. IT'S ILLEGAL. I find these extremely comical.
All I can think of the time I went on a class field trip to DC in middle school and the guys who were rooming together didn't want to share a bed so someone was sleeping in the tub. 100% someone would have ended up sleeping in one of those big outdoor fridges, like the ones that could hold a body, if that had been available xD too crazy!
These aren't necessarily statewide laws, but do apply in certain areas:
1. Wearing a hoodie (with the hood up) in public is illegal
2. Burring a person under a sidewalk is illegal
3. You can't sell 2 beers for the price of 1 beer
These two are statewide:
4. Accelerating your car in front of a school is illegal
5. Coasting your car downhill is illegal
1 - like 90% of boys at my middle school lol
2 - what is burring?
3 - why are BOGOs illegal? wow.
4 - makes sense
5 - also makes sense, I could see some damage there
Thanks for sharing!
Burring typo... should be Burying
Not sure if I got auto-corrected or just have fat fingers... must be auto-correct, R and Y are not next to each other
In general smoking cessation products at low doses should be available to people trying to quit smoking regardless of age. I know of many people who say it’s easier to get access to cigarettes than smoking cessation products. That makes it hard for teens to quit if they have to go to a doctor with parents to quit but not have the parents know about the drugs in the first place.
Thank you for sharing! I didn’t know that smoking cessation products were harder to access.
No paper or plastic bags so you have to use reusable bags which use more energy and pollution to run through the washing machine than the paper or plastic bags do, plus all of India and China use paper and plastic which means any amount of conservation we do has no positive effect whatsoever.
it sucks. as far as environmental protection, the whole world needs to be on the same page, and it’s just impossible…
It is illegal to collect rain water, the water that falls from the sky is owned by the government. Yet I can't sue the government for the damage their water does to my roof over time or if a large storm causes flooding.
... my brain suffered an aneurysm just reading that. They own the sky? Excuse me?
Sounds like they should be deposed. They don't send the rain. God ensures the water cycle works in that region's favor to receive it. So claiming the government owns the rain is actually blasphemy.
I've heard about that. that's a bit of an over reach there. Down here it's illegal for HOA's to prohibit the collection of rainwater...
Seriously? That's stupid as fuck
@KostasKouvalis : Not hard to understand. They worship themselves, and money. They know that water via the grid and water via personal collection are depleted equally from the table. But if you collect your own, they can't extort you via water bills for the privilege of having water. So out of nothing but unadulterated greed, they're gonna try to punish you for not needing them. Bureaucratic narcissists need to suffer and die, and be placed in the same ash heap as other tyrants in history.
@MCheetah Right, I know... those 55 gallon water barrels out back are used for camping, not rain water collection... hehe. Just so happens if I don't go camping, they can water my garden, if I decide to have one.
@ObscuredBeyond They claim if too many people do it, it will mess up the water shed here in the desert. That they need proper drainage, which is stupid... cause I have a well, with a electric pump. I own the water rights (well attached to the property) and I'll never use my annual allotted amounts and the only monthly fee is the electricity for the well pump.
Now in the cities, I get... they want to have drainage so they can collect and resell it back.
I'm not even thinking about that. I'm thinking about places like the hills of Kentucky, where off the grid living is totally feasible and hurts no one, but they'll jail you anyway.
There are no laws expressly forbidding nudity, which according to the constitution renders it legal, but there are so many laws regarding morality that would make it hard to defend nudity in court. Even openly breastfeeding has gotten some women in legal trouble because the nudity involved a minor... The infant that was breastfeeding. The morality police here hold a little too much power.
That Trudeau and his loser liberal party decided it was a good idea to make a list of random guns ban and make illegal.. even these items made the list including some airsoft guns, some paintball guns, and even BLACK RIFLE COFFEE COMPANY... I think he got a kindergarten student to write it up for him.. this gun ban makes no sense. Go to hell Trudeau... he needs to step down. He is a Embarrassment to Canada
It's illegal to fart publicly after 6PM, you can be fined for falling asleep under a hair dryer at the hair salon, and it's illegal to feed alligators (take a wild guess what state lol).
LOL farting is a normal human function. like good luck explaining that to a 4 year old or one with autism after 6pm. and the alligators well i can understand that xD
Yeah Florida is weird.
In my state of new york,
If you are caught flirting, you must pay a fine of $25.00
Read More: Ten More New York Laws That are Weird, But Somehow Still Exist
that is crazy. i wonder how they define flirting. was the Read More supposed to be hyperlinked?
yeah let me get a url shortener really quick
shorturl. at/bjrUV
I don't know how they define it either personally me i've never been fined i'd be pissed lmao
Ok i’ll try to find the article after, the url there didn’t hyperlink for whatever reason. but yeah i would not be a happy camper either.
Okay, there are a lot of dumb laws in New York same with unfair one's.
In my country the problem isn’t with law it’s with the people ruling, judges, governors etc..
are all exploiting their privilege to a very inhumane extent
a definite problem..
Carrying wire cutters in your hip pocket... illegal
You are not to shoot buffalo from the balcony
You may not eat from your neighbors trash
And lastly I give you.. you are allowed to wear pistols on your hips so long as the pistols are real and you are not selling snow cones
The firearms laws in California are absolutely stoopid. The lunatic left doesn’t want to talk about it because the gun crimes haven’t stopped or even slowed. Stopped a lot of law abiding citizens from protecting themselves though. Hence the reasonable people with means have gone elsewhere.
Well not either state I live in, or necessarily law but I was charged almost 200 dollars in tolls between New Jersey and Pennsylvania driving back to my home state. Yep.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/TdBt3DWvSo8The state I am in has a thing against anything past missionary position. Bj? Nope. Masturbation? Nope. Etc. Though this is more reflective about controlling the masses to fund the machine that runs the state.
(Maybe not the worst but the most stupid one.)
I'm not allowed to hunt with a crossbow because it could penetrate the chest plate of a medieval knight.
that’s a cool law, gives insight into the past xD amazing how times have changed
It's not a law, it's a saying. That there's "Freedom and justice for all." What a sick joke. At least other countries are honest... pay em money, and they'll go away. Here, it's all about TALKING the moral high road, but not actually doing it.
the corruption is real…
Legal weed. In Colorado the less intelligent people are literally free to buy and smoke weed which is devastating to the trailer park community and the 27 year Olds who live in mama's basement
self defense (especially with a weapon) is illegal
data privacy, meaning dashcams are illegal as well
I'm shocked dashcams are illegal.. That is unfortunate x (
Im use this analogy of there's an app for that...
In California, there's a license for that.
That is so true. CA has really gone over the deep end
It really grinds my gears to hear that in the state of Pennsylvania it’s illegal to sleep on top of a refrigerator outdoors. I think that’s bullshit because I always wanted to sleep on top of a refrigerator outdoors in that state.
You can’t shoot rabbits from a motorboat.
I wonder why lol
i see haha you’re right though must be a safety thing
In Australia we have preferential voting which i think is called ranked choice in the US. The problem is that you have to preference all the candidates. In effect you have to vote for one of the two major parties.
there is an old law which has never been revoked stating: "If the sea between Denmark and Sweeden freezes, and a Swede walks over the ice, you are allowed to hit him with a stick
Canadian geese are a protected class in USA. Road Kill is much better classification for those grass eating constant shit dropping Canadians... just like Montreal !!!
That you can’t kick tenants out of your home if they refuse to pay rent
i second this. i hate this law
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. It’s legal to torture a lunatic and ban them from being free.
Subsidy of 500 thousand pesos for single mothers.
sounds like a lot of careless pregnancies to me -__-
Against the law of public nudism
Why can't I walk out of my house nude. ?
You can’t keep an alligator as a pet or as a guard for your property or to keep the property and house tidy. So much for the dream of having an alligator butler.
when to tie up your horses on the street during certain hours of the business day
It’s illegal to drive barefoot.. LMAO like whaaaat
pretty sure most of us have done this in their lives
I agree with you, I’ve done it so many times. Lol
In New York if a person doesn't suffer pain and they are not of working age, they have no monetary value.
We have tons of ancient laws that couldn’t possibly ne enforced but would cost money to have removed.
There are still anti-sodomy laws on the books in some states in the US, which is ridiculous. What my wife and I choose to do in our bedroom is no one's business but our own.
In California, if you steal less than $1000 worth of shit, no one will punish you.
No protection for witnesses.
The Harassement Acts
Design to protect women but used by child molesters rapist and so on to protect them
You CAN'T herd your pigs down the main street during rush hour. I live in a big city that still has archaic laws.
You can kill a Welshman crossing the bridge on a Sunday.
Hereford, Herefordshire. England.
wow that is so random !
Language laws lol. French speaking province gets offend by the anglos.
favoring illegal immigrants over middle class working people
I don't know. Apart from traffic regulations the laws aren't really enforced anyway.
Breed bans. Talk about ignorance.
Pits, Rotties, GSD's?
My locals were marking pits and dobermans. I train workings dogs and had to reeducate them on breed vs disease and who raises them. Most people who know the breeds just left. I was here before the ignorance moved here. I wasn’t going to go anywhere. I won.
The state can ban safe abortions
Gravity!
