Disclaimer, I identify as Conservative (center right libertarian). I wanted some conservative opinions on Eisenhower 👍 generally, I've heard mixed thoughts on him. I wanted some specifics.

Eisenhower was a moderate brand of Republican that largely no longer exists. He was conservative fiscally but socially liberal. He helped establish the interstate highway system and the creation of NASA. His administration negotiated a cease fire to the Korean War and understood the importance of the deterrent value of a nuclear arsenal during the beginning of the Cold War. He also didn’t shy away from New Deal programs and expanded coverage of social security. He was enormously popular at the time. His WW2 service no doubt played a part in that as well. Today, he would probably never win a primary in a much more radically right Republican Party.
Good general.
