Black-outs are accidental, and brown-outs are intentional. Lots of areas in California experience brown-outs, but for some strange reason, Hollywood isn't one of those places.

Well. it'll cut the air pollution and traffic problems in cities by about 90%. That means less people getting sick, and less waiting around for traffic to clear.

The power grid is more than ready - it's technology and people that are not. You see, 95% of traffic is still fuel-based. Until there is at least 30% service requirement there is little onus to upgrade the grid to support more phase 3 meters required by electrics.

Or to bring it down to your level. You get shitty mobile reception in low service areas. But once the number of users in that area goes up, it's worth the while of the service provider to upgrade masts and increase bandwidth. It doesn't mean there is "less" for everyone else as a result.

Yes a power station burns the same fuel as a car engine. The difference being, a power station isn't in the city, is more efficient at burning fuel, and much cleaner.

We still use horses and carriages in this day and age, kid. I doubt all cars and trucks are going to move out of service once electrics come in.

People will have no choice but to rely on underdeveloped public transporta- wait. Are THOSE options going to be hit, too? Most of them aren't publicly owned. Take THEM down, and the American people essentially become Russian serfs, unable to leave the land their "masters" control. Whether that's intentional or not, it would be the effect, since I don't see anyone clamoring to start building nuke plants, which are what you'd need to supply that kind of power. Well, no; I DO see people clamoring for that, but none of them are office-holders.

A year ago, rising gas prices had me thinking about getting a wagon and a couple of Huskies, and just having them pull me everywhere. Some states seem to be trying to make that a necessity.

Most of the Green new deal people probably think that the electricity just magically comes out of your electrical wall plugs.

Pretty soon we will need to buy our electricity from China's new coal fired power plants that we are probably helping to finance! I guess that China has a different atmosphere than we do. So they can burn our "dirty coal" that we are not allowed to.

The CBS show "Full Measure" said that China will soon have more coal fired power plants than the rest of the world combined!

I talked with some coal miners and they told me that China is paying a ridiculous price for our export coal. Driving the price through the roof here!

If someone with a lick of common sense soon don't take control. We are screwed!

Not to disagree nor stand up for Joey. There are three different chargers out there. One is the three day one that plugs into a 120 volt wall socket. Another plugs into a 240 volt clothes dryer style socket. That one can take about 12 hours or less to charge. And the third one takes less than an hour to charge. They are the ones at the roadside charging stations. Which in most cases charge a premium price to charge up the EV.

It's definitely not ready currently. Think about all the copper that's going to be needed for all this for the grid and Electric Vehicles. There's easily not enough of it. Nobody wants a Copper Mine built near them yet many of the same people want to transition to Carbon-Free Economy. You have to be willing to make some sacrifices if you really want this to happen or else it won't with the Current Technology.

Yes, you can't completely rely on solar since the Battery Storage isn't in enough Mass-Quantities to store the power. That would be Absurdly Expensive with the Current Technology. You actually get the best bang for your buck Nuclear. I understand it wouldn't be wise to build those in Earth Quake Prone Areas.

In the UK we have a fully interconnected National Grid run by a nationalised company funded by the individual power companies and that is not ready for EV's being the majority of transports, having seen how loosely connected the US grid is, it is less prepared for large numbers of EV's than we are.
