This is why:

The motivation, according to the bill's preamble, is that the oil and gas industry is important to the state, a state with fewer than 600,000 residents. Wyoming is proud of its oil and gas industry, and that gas—here presumably meaning "gasoline" and not the natural gas referred to in the bill's early sentences—powers vehicles that drive on the state's vast stretches of highway.

The bill's authors think Wyoming's interstate network is too desolate for electric vehicles.

Well, first, we need to be clear about something: This is not a bill, but a resolution meaning that it is a statement of opinion. I do not believe this is a bill in the legal sense of phasing out EV sales in Wyoming by 2035; more like an advocacy to have such a law created.

A JOINT RESOLUTION

for

A JOINT RESOLUTION expressing support for phasing out the sale of new electric vehicles in Wyoming by 2035.

WHEREAS, oil and gas production has long been one of Wyoming's proud and valued industries; and

WHEREAS, the oil and gas industry in Wyoming has created countless jobs and has contributed revenues to the state of Wyoming throughout the state's history; and

WHEREAS, since its invention, the gas-powered vehicle has enabled the state's industries and businesses to engage in commerce and transport goods and resources more efficiently throughout the country; and

WHEREAS, Wyoming's vast stretches of highway, coupled with a lack of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, make the widespread use of electric vehicles impracticable for the state; and

WHEREAS, the batteries used in electric vehicles contain critical minerals whose domestic supply is limited and at risk for disruption; and

WHEREAS, the critical minerals used in electric batteries are not easily recyclable or disposable, meaning that municipal landfills in Wyoming and elsewhere will be required to develop practices to dispose of these minerals in a safe and responsible manner; and

WHEREAS, the expansion of electric vehicle charging stations in Wyoming and throughout the country necessary to support more electric vehicles will require massive amounts of new power generation in order to sustain the misadventure of electric vehicles; and

WHEREAS, the United States has consistently invested in the oil and gas industry to sustain gas-powered vehicles, and that investment has resulted in the continued employment of thousands of people in the oil and gas industry in Wyoming and throughout the country; and

WHEREAS, fossil fuels, including oil and petroleum products, will continue to be vital for transporting goods and people across Wyoming and the United States for years to come; and

WHEREAS, the proliferation of electric vehicles at the expense of gas-powered vehicles will have deleterious impacts on Wyoming's communities and will be detrimental to Wyoming's economy and the ability for the country to efficiently engage in commerce; and

WHEREAS, phasing out the sale of new electric vehicles in Wyoming by 2035 will ensure the stability of Wyoming's oil and gas industry and will help preserve the country's critical minerals for vital purposes.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING:

Section 1. That the legislature encourages and expresses as a goal that the sale of new electric vehicles in the state of Wyoming be phased out by 2035.

Section 2. That the legislature encourages Wyoming's industries and citizens to limit the sale and purchase of new electric vehicles in Wyoming with a goal of phasing out the sale of new electric vehicles in Wyoming by 2035.

Section 3. That the Secretary of State of Wyoming transmit copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, each member of Wyoming's congressional delegation, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the governor of Wyoming and the governor of California.

All they have to do is not provide infrastructure, but that means people with e cars can't visit. Then again, they shouldn't be restricting capitalism... cronies! Unless they view the E cars going up in flames to be environmentally hazardous, but they could just add an environmental feel on all E cars of say $50,000 and that take care of it.

They are inefficient, they are an environmental disaster, and governments won’t allow nuclear plants to be built to provide enough electricity to power all these cars. Plus the government wants the ability to put kill switches in your electric vehicle. If you think that will only be used to stop criminals, you’re dumber than I thought.

How are they inefficient and how are they environmental disasters? I take your point relative to the lack of nuclear power plants and I agree with that assertion. I think the kill switch comment is lacking any evidence at all.

EV batteries can not be recycled. After they go, they need to be thrown in landfills. You can go a whopping 350 miles on a charge, and then have to wait 45 minutes to 90 minutes to recharge the batteries. It takes me 10 minutes to fill my car with gasoline. So on a trip from NY to Miami is 1278 miles. That means you're adding roughly 6 more hours to the trip than you would be otherwise.

And remember, you don't dictate to me how I discuss things.

It was also about my reasoning why they may not have grown, despite being advertised a decade ago. And I did go review whether it's a hoax or not so I saw power tools like cordless drills using graphene batteries, and tiny batteries powering up large remote control cars. So they're real, and not new. But are they... suppressed?

Also the problem with lithium, besides being a rare element, being that the car starts to get heavy... it isn't a problem for the home batteries used for emergency when power goes out... they just stand in the garage no matter how heavy.. so then there already were sodium ion batteries that are by far cheaper to manufacture, and are only 1/3 (or 1/2 can't remember?) Less energy dense. So why did the sodium ion battery companies that were in business years ago shut down? And they still sell the "tesla power wall" made of inefficient lithium ion (and many times more expensive than what that sodium company that is now closed used to sell per KWH)

It's all as if someone is holding the evolution back.

First of all, where is anything that can be see n as name calling?
Even if there was such a thing, it would be quite a compliment to tell you what we think upfront, it assumes you're a man who can handle it.
So I will say that protecting your bias is not manly, if that's what one does then they're not a man. And arguably one of the biggest reasons most humans do it is because of literally chemicals in their food and water affecting their brain and creativity.

With other states banning gasoline powered cars; I think a ban on electric cars is only fair and balanced. Especially when you realize that electric cars are actually worse for the environment. California is already having a major strain on their electric grid when they have only begun to phase out gasoline powered cars. What happens as they phase out gas, oil, coal, and nuclear plants (if you were serious about the environment this is what you would be championing not closing) and more people have electric cars? Nothing, and by that I mean nothing would get done because there wouldn't be enough electricity to power homes and cars via solar and wind generation.
