California Law Bans Small Off-Road Gas Engines, What Are Your Thoughts?

They ARE a huge source of air pollution, since they're all but unregulated. Banning them entirely is flat-out idiotic, though. But then, California's been pushing an energy pipe dream for decades now. I suppose the idea is to convert to battery-powered models, apparently under the impression that there IS, in fact, a free lunch available, we "just haven't found it yet".
The funny thing is, if they were to implement NOISE restrictions on those things, they'd see a LOT more support. Even I'd be tempted.
You will cut air pollution on one end & create it on another end. Powers companies will make out like bandits with their power rates & you know who they will be producing emissions on their end as well. I think if California wants you to switch over they should buy back your old equipment.
That might actually be a good idea- if they've got replacement stuff ready to buy. I have no idea if they do; but if it's not being bought, that suggests it's inferior.
Wow what are the landscapers going to do? Electric equipment isn’t as good or last as long as gas powered and with everything going electric the power plants that burn fossil fuel will need to burn more and pollute more than all those little engines
It’s going to be a mess & I’m sure peoples yards are going to look like shit for a while. I wonder if there will be lawnmower police?
Yeah I’m sure that’s going to be a lot for regular police to handle when people don’t give up their gas powered mower I’ll have to buy an electric one
I thought the police were going to be defunded.
@Jamie05rhs no they can’t do that or it will be the Wild West in America again
Well, they already have in some cases. And it is.
@Jamie05rhs yeah I guess it is
Wildfires are no joke. And these things trigger them. …As do careless people tossing their cigarettes down, and kiss playing with lighters and matches, hot mufflers parked too close to dry brush.. car fires.. and so many other causes of the CA wildfires through the years. Will banning these specific items help? Is it worth it? I guess they think it is.
What are the substitute products? The law seems like an overkill.
Electric or battery operated lawnmowers, weedwackers, leaf blowers & more.
I had to Google it but yes there are.
Even if they did ban them good luck enforcing it & something tells me the ban will b overturned.

It means no trimmers in California. The state totally sucks donkey dongs. It is an embarrassment to America. Wish Mexico would invade and make it part of Mexico or the 10.0 earthquake hits and takes care of it. They been saying that for some time , like global "bull shit" warming , not happening.
All those people that bought generators because of the rolling blackouts are screwed.
I was looking at a power outage map & it’s like I see California on it all the time. The residents better ind loop holes.
Headline "Law BANS engines"
Actual statement in article - "will be banned"
Sources to verify this screed : None.
My reaction. YAWN.
Need to have a complete government overhaul in California. They obviously don't care about it's citizens or their rights.
So when CA has their rolling black outs...
My thoughts exactly & California has power outages all the time & the jokers are going to ban generators. I hope hospitals have a lot of batteries.
@TrueConfection yes, exactly.
... so what do they want, electric? Never heard of solar versions of those.
My some of neighbors have battery operated lawnmowers & leaf blowers & weedwackers & more & to be honest I prefer gas.
Probably going Cheap assing now. They know Gas is Low and High and Joe cannot even Get Saudi's to Go for Him. What a Low Blow!!! xx
I'm not sure what's the best way to put this law in effect but at face value I'm good with it
Totally unnecessary, They are out to enforce a power company monopoly. This is the real climate change agenda
To be clear, the law bans their SALE. No one is going to come and confiscate your chainsaw.
So things will soon be looking up for dealers in Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.
Wow I sure am glad I don't live in California.
Same here & for all we know California could be the start & I’m sure one day we will see the same.
Wtf i guess everything that band eill ho hogh price for soneone to do services
about time. That'll start happening everywhere eventually once we start running out of oil. Best to start early.
Will they repeal lawncare ordinances too?
There is such a shortage & if people have to buy electric lawn care items it would take them a long time to get those items & HOA’s would be handing out fines left & right.
Bit OTT
Way over the top & bullshit as well.
Lmao. Meanwhile, it’s A-OK to shit in the streets.
Wtf 😳
If I were a resident I would drive by city hall & stars my lawnmower & get everyone to do the same. It’s crazy & I understand that they want to cut emissions but if everyone switches the over to electric the power company’s will be producing more emissions & what is it going to cost to get rid of all those small engines.
A 400 foot wall I love it & this guy might be on to something.
