Why are politics so crazy here in the US?

I'm not from here but it seems that its all tribal and what's right or wrong doesn't matter.

If you are indeed Irish, then you don't know how lucky you are, in terms of politics- although you may be a little young; I think the landscape's changed in the last several years. The split between Fine Gael and Fianna Fail was about reaction to, and approval or disapproval of, the treaty that Collins negotiated to end the Anglo-Irish war; that was a century ago. Please don't take this the wrong way, but watching Irish political debates was hilarious- a center-right to moderate-right party against a moderate-right to center-right party. Over here; eh...

It didn't used to be this bad, but we're going through a major shift in party values right now (the last one required a world war to pull us out of), and both sides have realized that sufficient demonization of THE OTHER SIDE will make the party faithful stop examining their own failings and misdeeds. Make them hate your opponents enough, and they'll refuse to vote against you, even if you're not doing a damn thing to improve the country.

Take illegal immigration. Now, American immigration laws SUCK- no one who's had to deal with them would disagree (other countries' may also suck, maybe even worse- that doesn't ours are good). That's a big part of why people don't come in legally; they can't. You will, if you ignore the warnings and set digital foot there, see ENDLESS tirades on Twitter about how awful the situation is- which sounds reasonable, except that many of these tirades come from members of Congress; the very people who WRITE THE STUPID LAWS IN THE FIRST PLACE! The situation is bad, and there are exactly 545 people on Earth who can fix it, and those people are... bitching about it on social media. Why not fix it? Well, if they DID, the problem would go away, and they'd lose an easy club to beat the image of their opponents with, inside their constituents' heads.

We have Earth's 3rd largest continent worth of different people with different economic, cultural, and geographic circumstances all FORCED by our lawless (no Limited Constitution) politicians in Washington D. C. to fight each other every election over every detail of life.

Of course we hate each other everything is at stake all the time, they win we end up forced under rules that don't work well for us.

Because America is full of crazy people. Kyle Rittenhouse shot two people and killed them. It was caught on camera. Despite the video, Rittenhouse was acquitted on all charges. Then, he celebrated his acquittal at Mar-a-Lago, where boxes of America's classified documents were illegally hoarded by an Insurrectionist.

Only could this happen in America.

Politicians have always been liars, and we expected that from them. But we also expected some semblance of doing what's best for the people of this country. Little did we suspect that hasn't been the case for a hundred or so years, maybe more, but it was easy to distract people. WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq, domestic violence, civil rights, women's rights, same sex marriage, and so on. Distractions, and keeping the hamsters on the "dread mill" while the top 3% became billionaires.

It got so bad that an actor named Reagan convinced people "trickle down economics" was actually going to work. It did, for the wealthy. Ever since then, the polarization you see today began in earnest. Secret conservative organizations were formed, like the Council for National Policy. Religious and conservative zealots.

When people thought they were tired of the usual politics, they bought a sack of bullshit from a con man selling snake oil, thinking he'd be different. He wasn't.

In essence, all they did was replace a fox in the hen house with a rabid dog, so the end result was exactly the same, only the dog brought his dog friends and made them swear allegiance to him. Meanwhile, the sheep got sucked in and joined the Cult of the Dog and worshiped him. Now the sheep can not ACCEPT that the dog led them astray because THEY TOO have become rabid, and like the Walking Dead, they can never be human again.

They can not speak or do anything requiring thought, critical or analytical or otherwise. They howl when they are told to howl, they commit crimes when they are told it will protect the Lead Dog, and they go to prison for those crimes. They are the Walking Dead. Now, their Lead Dog may be put down, and they are lost, left alone. All they know to do... is howl. Pity them. Pity them all.

Because it’s a show. The US is an oligarchy wearing the skin suit of a republic. Politics must be amped up to 11 with a small set of social issues that convince everyone their way of life is at stake. Meanwhile Americans are never allowed to meaningfully debate or have options regarding foreign policy, monetary policy, or the massive regulatory regime that concentrates wealth from most people into the hands of the elite. Just as Rome had a Senate the whole time it was run by autocratic emperors, America has elections while actually being run by globalist elite oligarchs.

Well, you got Republicans who are millionaires and Democrats who are millionaires, both are fighting at each other like a pack of wild dogs it makes no sense at all but hey it's happening. One is a looney toon and the other is a millionaire who jacks up prices on everything and is losing his mind due to old age. US politics is actually very representative to the daily lifes of our people. At each other's throats, combative amd can't get anything done.

So the government and politics as a tool to represent the American people is doing an an amazing job. The reality is American people not that amazing despite the powers we have on the global stage.

It's not just the US. There's a populist surge in many countries. Why? Mostly I think it's economics. The working class has been affected by automation and globalization, while at the same time long-standing sexual and religious orthodoxy has been overturned.

Well, they all took an oath to defend the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights which protects individual liberty.

Save only a few, a majority of them have complete contempt for what is right and in doing what protects and defends the Constitution. Most of them are committing treason in my opinion. I’d like to know when they are going to go to prison for it!

Politics have evolved from trying to get votes based on accomplishments to trying to get votes by scaring and fear. So sadly both sides try to scare people into voting against instead of trying to earn a vote for.

There's an unbalanced with political ideologies and common goals for the country.

One extreme pushes another side to be extreme which creates tension and each side sees each other as the enemy instead as one to move the country forward.
