It works well for Russia. Would you allow it if you were in a years long war? 6 months and if your alive after you get freedom. All sorts of criminals are involved.

It's practically death sentence for minor crimes. As Russian "volunteer" you get steel sheet helmet, airsoft body armor, AK without any optic and you have to face hardened Ukrainian units who have motivation to fight for their country, who are generally better equipped and trained. Well, the odds are against you.

Well in a years long war you'd be desperate. They are monitored by drones and have instructions on smartphones. If they deviate from the plans they are executed. Wagner leader says it's either that or your children.
