I'm in favour of doing this to protect lives.
Voted Yes - and as you may have seen the Court did overturn Roe this June in the case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey. However, while the ruling was correct on a number of grounds, it was destined to be less than meets the eye.
The overturning of Roe v. Wade did not mean the outlawing of abortion. Rather all that it will mean is that abortion is again subject to the regulation of state and local laws.
Consequently, except in states where changes in state and local laws have been made since Roe, the state/local laws will revert back to where they were in 1973. It being noted that state and local abortion laws were already being relaxed in 32 states by that time. All Roe did was make abortion a constitutional right and "federalize" that right - albeit a right that was later modified by varying standards of "viability" and other considerations - above state and local law.
While I have to disagree with it, the national consensus is basically in favor of abortion on demand as a right - at least in the first trimester. After that trimester, the consensus breaks down and the nation as a whole gets a bit queasy. These views being more "felt" than actually thought out.
So, back to the question, it was a good day, but not likely the "great" day that the question implies. As Disraeli famously said, "Finality is not in the vocabulary of politics." So the debate will continue in a society that tends to assume that freedom is an end in itself rather than a means to the attainment of virtue.
Given that reality, the changes in the national consensus on abortion are likely to be slight and most states have either maintained or - as in the case of my home state of Michigan which appears to be attempting to make itself the butcher shop of the unborn - even liberalize their abortion laws. Americans having yet to fully understand, as Burke said, "The effect of liberty to individuals is that they may do as they please. We ought see what it will please them to do before we risk congratulations."

No. It's common knowledge sex education and availability of birth control including availability of abortions results in the least amount of abortions possible. If you truly care about lifes.
If we want to really protect lifes we should also understand the #1 cause of pregnant women deaths. That being murder from the intimate partner. You can see how an abortion could save a life while the abortion was already impossible.
I can only see overturning roe vs wade as death and destruction. Women choosing suicide over raising a rapist child. A punk ass guy that can't pull out just murder mother and child. No solution or good out comes from anti abortion.
Or men and women could just quit having sex till they decide they want children, then the lives of those unplanned pregnancies wouldn't be created to begin with.
A woman will remain the authority on her own pregnancy, regardless of the law.
