I am all for reparations, but make the actual slave owners pay to the actual slaves. People who have never owned slaves, shouldn't have to pay and people who never were slaves.

Keep in mind, there is more people in slavery in the world TODAY than when slavery was legal. When someone is caught, they do try to make them pay reparations to whoever they had as a slave.

They should be focusing on stopping current slavery, human trafficking, sexual slaves, force labor, child labor.

Due to complex supply chain systems, many cheap items people buy may be made by slave labor, or child labor.

Seems like they'd do well to get a task force going to work on trying to stop modern day slavery rather than focusing on something so pointless as the past.

I don't even know who my ancestors or what shit they did... Even if they killed or saved a 1000 people.. It doesn't involve me in anyway.. Good or bad, I'm not responsible for their actions. I'm not responsible for even my parents' action.

They are going after Benedict just because of fame and money.. His family is not the only people who have done this.. so why go after him.. He might not even know who those "ancestors" are..

The British have taken tons of gold, jewels, spices, and resources from India... Has any indian asked the British people or even the queen to give back or pay back for the things they've taken? NO... Same goes to all the other countries which was conquered by Britain..

Yes people suffered a lot during slavery.. but their great grandchildren are living in america and other countries in good positions. They have worked hard and is leading good lives. So many doctors, nurses, lawyers, artists, a the let's, etc are descendents of slaves. They people who are asking for "refund/payback" are those who are lazy to work and just want the money. They dont even persinally know which family member suffered as a slave..

Its such a shame people are looking for petty reasons to get easy money.. Benedict shouldn't pay for the ancestor's mistake no matter what..

Demanding reparations is not only stupid, its racist. There is not a single person alive who was involved in slavery. In reality if these worthless pieces of shit want money, they need to go to Africa and demand reparations from the people there who sold their ancestors into slavery. Said yes, in only that Barbados feels someone should pay for a long ago crime. Don’t think Cumberpatch should be directly targeted. Barbados is just trying to get PR in a very bad way. But reparations from govts that allowed this and got rich off slave trade should be looked at.

And if Barbados is having financial issues our countries should help them.
