I don’t think what “woke” means to the right wing is accurate to what “woke” really is. It’s just anything decency-related that they don’t like on the right gets shut down as “wokeness.” It’s nowhere near as sinister as FoxNews and the like paint it, it’s not sinister period, unless you believe treating anyone from a non-dominant demographic (whether that’s being white, or male, or straight) with the same respect as you treat the dominant demos is sinister, but I’d argue that’s a “YOU”-problem. Bottom-line: if you learned what “woke” means through right wing sources, then you’ve been grossly misinformed and misled.

Never said it was directed at you, I’m speaking broadly. I bring up the right wing because it’s most closely associated with what I’m talking about, but certainly not exclusive to them. I know plenty of Democrats who are also racist or homophobic, not like they actively go around harassing anyone, but they say dumb shit sometimes.

There are plenty of class issues, but we’re kidding ourselves if we think gender, sexual orientation, and especially race don’t play a major part in people’s life experiences and and subsequent outcomes, particularly in regard to class mobility.
