The problem for me with the woke movement is that it forgets about the nuance and complexity of history to make oppressors of whites, heterosexuals and men. The woke movement in this sense wants to "deconstruct the history" of Western nations that it considers probably the most "criminal" nations in history.
If the great nations of the West have indeed committed atrocities, and inhuman things, such as colonization, slavery, it is clear when we look at history that these horrors are not the prerogative of Western civilization.
Example: the Western slave trade lasted 3 centuries, the Arab-Muslim slave trade lasted 13 centuries. From the beginnings of Islam, in the 7th century, it spread throughout the Maghreb from where caravans left to cross the Sahara to bring back black slaves from the sub-Saharan coast.
There was also the intra-African slave trade which subjected millions of captives to the cane of their masters from the empires or enemy tribes. Asian civilizations have also practiced slavery.
With regard to wars, the conquest of territories, subjugating other peoples, it is still the same thing, the Middle East, Africa and Asia have also experienced many empires, and wars which have reduced d other population to submission and poverty.
I am not saying this to excuse what the various Western nations did that participated in these horrors, but to put it all in a historical context or for the various civilizations of the world slavery, war and conquest was the most natural thing in the world.
In short, it is very good for the West to look its history in the face with its dark sides, but it is important to have a historical perspective.

The woke movement seems to be populated by people who prefer emotions over any type of conversation or differing opinion. Not to say that emotions are bad or wrong but there seems to be a vocal group that has been sold the idea or developed the habit that not having control of your emotions is perfectly fine for adults to do. When it really isn't as it doesn't help the individual or the people around them to be ruled solely by emotions or be an emotional wreck.
At the same time it is crazy how far the left has departed from its old school foundations in favor of woke ideology. Whatever happened to question authority, don't trust massive companies of pharmaceutical, social media or entertainment influence as giving them too much power could have distavorous consequences. Now it seems like: "Oh these massive companies hate the people I hate so I will go along with what they say and grant them even more power! These practices could never be used on me one day!" it is very narrow minded thinking.
You get other examples like "OMG these massive companies changed their logo for pride month I will stan them forever!" Well they seem to only do that when they think it won't hurt their bottom line if you notice their accounts from the Middle East, China etc don't change the logo. "You are so hateful what's wrong with being gay?" I never said that, I'm saying these companies are preying on your emotions and using you while doing business with countries that actively hate you. Essentially they don't really believe in what you believe. I'm not saying you have to boycott them if you don't want to but you shouldn't be so quick to trust these entities so blindly.
You bring up a great point about historical perspective. Yes Western civilization does have dark spots in its history but thanks to Western civilization some of the greatest human rights were enacted to grant people freedoms they never had in the course of all of human history. In fact the system is designed to make improvements and make things better by placing more emphasis on individual rights. Yet the woke movement doesn't understand that. They haven't truly experienced or lived through real oppression in their lives and don't comprehend they can protest and say things based on the ideals of Western civilization.
Also, yeah I have seen the woke movement pushing the idea that only straight, White, Christian men are histories oppressors with White women being the next in line to be demonized (this can vary as sometimes they put all men regardless of race as oppressors). When every person today guaranteed is a descendent from some of the most brutal civilizations to have ever existed. Like you said it's not to excuse the bad things Western civilization has brought about but to not even factor in the practices of other cultures and empires is just so short sighted.
To sum up I have quite a few thoughts on the woke movement but to put it in a straight forward manner from what I have seen the majority are annoyingly vocal hypocrites.
I am sorry for the long reply, I usually don't plan on writing this much I agree with you for the most part. The West has done some horrendous things to other people around the world; however, the West isn't the only group that has. For example, Europe is usually the only group demonized for the crusades, they did some horrible things, but the Middle East and Muslims had their fair share of killing and invasions into Christen countries in Europe. I have found that "movements" are all very similar to each other. Whether we're talking about Communism, Me2 movement, Fascism, MAGA movement, or really any other movement, including religions, we can identify a pattern of starting with good intentions and, quite often, ending up with corruption and radicalism. I believe that this because social movements arise from the problems that people see with those deemed as the elites. However, as a major social movement grows in power then the people in charge of the movement become the elites that they opposed and start to subjugate the group who will push for the new social movement. (I am going to put woke in quotes because I don't believe the woke movement is a specific movement, but rather a series of movements like BLM or Me2) The "woke" movement is exactly the same. It was a group of people that wanted to make an overall more equal society, but it turned quickly into a social class movement where some members consider those not apart of their movement as lesser. This has created a group of people that are completely against the "woke" movement, creating social movements like MAGA. I also believe that there is a very good chance that the "woke" movement has created and spread more of what they were trying to suppress, like racism and sexism.

Biggest problem with the woke movement is that it involves almost exclusively the most privileged people in the world claiming they are victimised when they are not and that they speak for all minorities. Like they can't understand why Muslims will not support the LGBTQ or vice versa, basically they assume if you are non-white, non-Christian etc you automatically should follow their lead.

If you want to change the truth of history then how honest can you be? The attempt is not new so look at the ones who tried. And then what lessons will we forget and repeat? It's nothing new, as political correctness has been around for a long time. The new thing however, are people being so stupid, they fall for it easily. It is amazing how many people have bought into this. People actually believe electric cars will stop climate change. They think men can have babies. They believe that Columbus really did not discover America. They believe Abraham Lincoln did not free the slaves. There are at least 50 distinct sexes, not just the two taught in biology class.
