I keep a glock 17L& 19 in 9mm in a lock box in my bedroom. I've a mosseberg 500 12 gauge shotgun and an AR15 if the situation called for more firepower. I also gave my wife a ruger Ruger LCR in 9mm and I keep one for myself in my car.
I used to keep a ruger security six revolver in 9mm as my home defense weapon but the authorities didn't return it after I was forced to use it, im told it was destroyed. Used to have a mini 14 as well but got rid of it as whenever I too it to the range, it was always jamming.
Had toyed with thd idea of the beretta 92, m1911 or browning high power even some old police revolvers but settled on Glocks as they are cheap and will shoot all day without jamming, they might not be as good as the SIGs and HKs but cost effective. Had also thought about a light weight carbine or semi auto sub like the keltec 2000, Ruger PC, high point carbine or p90.
I have other guns but they aren't for home defence.
I think I am okay, no need for guns where I am, somebody wants my shit they can have it, not worth getting killed over some trinkets. Take my truck, insurance will just pay for another one.
Besides, last time there was murder in my neck of the woods was 30 years ago and it was someone dropping off a body from the city. Gang related and they can kill each other all they want. Nothing else for 70 or more years.
I have my throwing knives and axes, but don't anticipate ever needing them. The last guy that went through and stole something was at my neighbors, guy was on the run and camped out there for a week. He wrote an apology note to the owners and said he just needed food and water. After he got out of jail, he worked and sent them money for breaking the window.
I think we live in two different worlds, I have no bars on my windows or guns under my bed-pillow. We are predominantly a quiet nation that uses guns for hunting purposes, only. Anyone carrying a hand gun is either the law or a handful of people that have really specialized licenses, and most of the time they use them for professional target practice meets.
You may hear of a handgun used in the gangs down in the Toronto, but it is pretty rare. I don't think there has ever been a handgun killing in the city near me and there are more than 150,000 living there. Once in awhile someone may get shot in a hunting accident, but typically some dumbass had been out drinking and light's up his buddy in the forest thinking he is a deer.
I like visiting the US, it has some beautiful scenery, and a lot of the people are nice, but for the simple fact that every person needs/could have a gun, even under their seat or in a holster while they are driving, I couldn't live there. Anyone snaps and they have instant access to something that can kill you. I am talking about the people who are borderline nuts, not the majority of people that go about their business.
I don't condemn the lifestyle or anything, it is just different cultures. I am not used to the whole gun culture and constantly being on defense as I am sure most Americans would feel strange living in Canada.
I know I'll likely get a bunch of dislikes and I am fine with that, I am just saying we grew up in totally different cultures, that's all.
Here if you claim your insurance premiums go up next year and if your robbed once you will be robbed multiple times by the same people.
Ahhhh... Here we have some grace in regards to insurance. It may go up if it happens frequently, but if it is a one time claim, they don't.
Hungry wolves always come back.
Good for you, for me often someone wants my shit as in my body, not going to let them have that. I know Democrats will often say, just let it happen and report them later, nope I'll kill them first then report them later.
@Aerissa_Jade I don't blame you, it is one thing to take a possession from someone, but another to do them harm.
