Thoughts on patriarchal society?

Do you like more patriarchal societies or do you think it’s had it’s day and it’s time to more on to a more egalitarian one?

I’m of 2 minds. I prefer an egalitarian society but I’m also a more traditionalist homemaker take care of the family type of woman. I don’t think this will go away as the point is choice but it could certainly be frowned upon by society at large. Saying I’m letting society down by conforming to said role in life.

My wife and I are very traditional in our roles; she stays home with the kids, and I earn the income. Our house responsibilities are doled out by our personal strengths so that the task is managed by whomever does it better. It is the most efficient relationship I've ever been in, and she couldn't be happier either.

I can't profess that our life is more or less than anyone else's; I also wouldn't say it's right or wrong. But I will admit that it's more traditional than progressive. I think as long as you and your partner are happy, and no one is being hurt, the definitions don't matter. You are together with each other, and that's all that matters. Society can go to Hell for all I care, my world is small and my love is big.

It shouldn't be either or. You evaluated your own situation and made your own decisions on how to effect your our life. The fact you consider all possible variables and chose the more traditional one now has meaning when historically being demanded had void of meaning even though both results were basically the same.

The fact you have agency and operation of daily life is a better life. Not that any life choices are void of challenges but being a self appointed agent can make all the difference in a fulfilling life.

There are a lot of modern women who will disparage you for letting them down immediately after they fight for your choice to do so. It would seem that the choice the left gives women is 'my way or the highway'. Everyone alive today is directly descended at some point from women who made the traditional homemaker choice, as it functions and tends to produce better healthier more well rounded and cultured children. It may be difficult, but you don't have to stay on the left🫨 Increasing numbers of women are realizing that their and any potential children's interests are better served by abandoning slavish devotion to baseless social propaganda and hookup culture and 'game' dating etc. Your fellow Australian Daisy Cousens explains better than I can.

I prefer to follow traditional norms. But those which are obviously outdated are not taken into consideration.

Society has changed just a bit. No big change. No small change either. I like to be single. Hence, you can say, I don't adhere to marriage. Women have been seen as weak historically. And that clouds the judgements of many many people. Including the lawmakers.

Plus, I don't want to listen to never-ending rants and criticism for everything I do the moment I enter the house. Just because it is not to their liking. I don't have that kind of energy.

Patriarchal or Matriarchal systems can work successfully, but only if the system is slightly egalitarian in nature and selects the most capable person, rather than the eldest or youngest.

The problem with egalitarian systems is that lots of people don't buy into anything and are lazy, so the system drags them along like a dead weight.

Although a patriarchal society can work, there's no reason a matriarchal society won't. Let's say that if a patriarchal society wasn't mainly based on ignorance and discrimination of the other gender, it could have been a good system ;0)

Meaning, things and humans being as they are, the best would probably be a relatively equal system depending on circumstances and competences, which do not take away individual life choices.

There was apparently more steadiness, and less conflict, in old-fashioned patriarchal society, where men and women new exactly what was expected of them, compared to today's attempts at egalitarian, where no one is really sure what they should be and do.

The original Women's Liberation of the 60's was essential as was movement culminating to the19th Amendment (thanks to Republicans) but since WW2, the movement has been perverted by Leftists.

The patriarchal society was formed by men. They have felt that being the stronger of the two genders, they should be the head. I am of a different opinion. If men wish to be the protectors, fine, but the "head" of a family must consist of two people. One should not have the final say without a complete discussion of any subject.

Egalitarianism is honestly just dumb and makes no sense. Nobody chooses this option. They pretend to, they try to, they always come back to traditional if they can... keywords... if they can. Most can't and get stuck. They cope by pretending this is what they wanted.

Who cares about what society think? The purpose of life is to be happy, and if being trad is what makes you happy, go for it, those who don't like it can suck a cactus.

Even when I was a boy I was a feminist. I just figured this out on my own. I wanted to be with a woman with a career, which meant dividing the chores.

I think society needs to find ways for women to contribute without giving up her role as a mother and home maker. That doesn't sound like patriarchy to me but it's not what we have now either.

I think you couldn't find a patriarchy outside of china or north korea if your life depended on it. And even then that's debatable. Anyone who says the word patriarchy after 2020 has 15 brain cells.

Just the fact that you can choose to be more “traditional” is part of the egalitarian society. If this were the 1950s you wouldn’t have that choice.
