I have never in my life (since HS) seen a man publicly shame or bully an overweight woman. Even when the overweight woman herself was being the bully (I’ve seen a lot of this hypocritical bullshit) the man still refrained from pointing out the obvious.

Also I do notice that big girls tend to be louder, nastier, more antagonistic and bullying because they crave attention even if it’s negative attention

Lately bbw women keep on trying to label the following “fat shaming”:

    • Men who express their preferences about wanting to date a skinny/fit girl.
    • Men/women who point out cold hard scientific facts that obesity contributes to a whole host of health complications including a shortened life span. The number one continuing co-morbidity factor is obesity when it came to covid. But the mass media tried to mute that out.
    • Men who just ignore and/or turn down heavy set women romantically.

Men don’t usually pull punches when we tell other men to get off their fat asses. Not saying that’s always right but it motivates men to make changes to improve. Yet overweight women keep wanting to live in a fantasy world and rather have other men/women lie to them about them being “beautiful” vs telling them the hard truth that they can take steps to improve their fitness/health.

Sure it’s not easy. Not at all but you can improve yourself through a lifestyle change. The longer you ignore reality the harder reality becomes for you. When you accept the cold hard facts it isn’t fun. But it will motivate you to make changes to improve your life. That’s just how it is.

Also I want to commit I have encounter fit and athletic thicker women. Even though they were heavier there was something very noticeable in how they move, walk and interact physically. They hold the extra weight well because they are active. It’s attractive.

I would never criticize someone like that when they are making an honest effort. Never.

But I do have a serious problem with people who “closet binge” and comfort eat. They also don’t want to put the effort into improving their lives but instead just want people to feel sorry for them. It’s usually bbw women acting this way. Men on the other-hand (including fat men) don’t confuse sympathy with respect.

Well, people being mean or treating someone lesser due to the amount of fat in their body is, in my opinion, evil. Regardless of the word used, I know what she is trying to say. I won't be blinded by semantics.

Everyone knows it wrong but it takes a strong person to stand up against it.

I don't think the intent is to glorify fat but instead to reestablish the fact that everyone is innately equal to another regardless of what they don't have or have too much of.
A lot of people don't understand that. They confuse results or way of living with self. Everyone should be treated with kindness and courtesy.

There is absolutely people shaming others for being fat. There is absolutely people making fun of them and belittle them. It's not okay.

      1. Generally people aren't making fun of people for being fat. To some degree yes however the main thing people love to make fun of are fat people who play the victim (like someone else made them fat) or who stick their fat on display or someplace demanding its accomdated (ie demanding airplanes give them free seats especially done last minute like at the flight or demand VS used obese models). Most people view these situations as ridiculous and therefore a common reaction to ridiculous behavior is ridicule.

      2. It's not evil to make fun of someone for their own choices. In fact I'd argue it's evil NOT to make fun of or otherwise have opinions on people's choices. One does not need to accept every single behavior just to chase the unrealistic goal of being not only "nice" but "way too nice". Since when is that something people strive to be? Personally I'm nice but idgaf if some obese lady puts me in a position asking me if she looks hot I'm going to say fuck no. Why should I not? It's not my problem nor do I owe her "nice" when she rudely put me in a position I'd say obviously most people would not want to be in.

Well I’m current Fat not obese due to
Pcos and many life issues going on and and I know the guy I went to dates didn’t like me for it being fat I know it for sure.. but I don’t think he is fat phobic truth is we want attractive things.. i don’t blame him However I’m very cute and beautiful but see being fat ruins it..
I’m sad about it only because I’m fixing my weight is going down I wish he could have been gentle approaching it and asking me if I wanted to change. But as we know wishes in life rarely became true.
    So it’s ok

I think being mean to someone and making unwanted comments about their weight is wrong in general. A lot of people with weight problems know they have them and they might not be very happy about it themselves. I had a friend that got made fun of for being obese when I was in school, and I was the only one who ever said anything about it. Everyone else just watched. Keeping a healthy weight is hard for some people.

Being mean or cruel to anyone for something they cannot immediately change is just outright disgusting. Some people act as if bigger people cannot enjoy life because they are fat, they cannot feel beautiful or handsome because they are fat, it's a stupid and incredibly toxic mindset.

We are talking about fatphobia and fat shaming.

If a fat person right in this moment restricts their diet are they suddenly not fat? No. They are still fat, therefore it is not something that can be changed IMMEDIATELY. it's a long process and one you often don't know someone is going through unless they tell you.

@PainusNdeeAnus weight loss happens over time. The typical and healthiest way to lose weight is 1-2kgs per week (2-4lbs). That comes off gradually not all at once. Someone who weighs 160kg (360lbs) is still going to be fat if they lose 1kg.

If they are losing any weight then they would literally have to be eating huge portions and doing nothing afterwards

Never seen so many people fight so hard against exercise

      bodies were made to move

@Razp_Sorbet That point seems to be false, for starters how many health issues can be solved instantly? Secondly thin is a subjective word, so technically a fat person could do one squat and someone looking at them could deem them to be then. Finally why is instantaneous transformation even relative. If being mean is what it takes to get someone to change their life for the better than that seems to be what is most important. Seems pretty narcissistic to believe someone should risk health issues simply for the sake of your feelings.

It's absolutely insane how you can have someone spell something out for you over and over and you still just don't get it. Suppose you never will. Brains,. I guess they're just not useful to some 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you are 300lbs and you start exercising regularly not even intense workouts just consistently your body will immediately start to adapt that’s why rest days are so important the pain we feel is our bodies adjusting to a less sedentary lifestyle once it gets used to it then it will be easier to keep the weight off and harder to put it back on

I challenge anyone who is overweight to only consume 1500 calories a week

@PainusNdeeAnus still not an immediate change from fat to thin. I stand by my statement, if you don't get it then at this point that's your own problem. Have a good one 👍✌️

A "phobia" is a fear or morbid dread. Not liking something is not a phobia. Hating something is not a phobia. It may be pointless or illegitimate or stupid, but calling it a phobia is just an attempt to delegitimize what people are saying without engaging with their ideas intellectually.

I couldn't care less about yet another made up BS term.

Obesity is unhealthy. Most people are not attracted to it. End of story.

That means... you are not mean to people. You don't ridicule them or make fun of them. You are also real with them. It is better to be fit. Don't lie to them.

I think people are too harsh on fat people, as I have lived the fat life lol. But I don't think it is good to be fat or that people have to lie to me to get through shit. Just be nice an not cruel that's the only thing I would like from people.

Shouldn't it be fatshaming instead of fatphoboa? I have yet to find someone who is scared of a fat person. It's not like they can outrun you. Nudge

I don't care how they want to live their life. I just don't like them complaining about being fat and not doing something about it just like any other person whining about something but doing nothing about it.

Fatphobia is a real problem, but its not fat people afraid of being pressured to get in shape.
Its otherwise thin people who are otherwise soo terrified of the idea of being fat that they demonize anything they can even imagine being associated with being fat.

It is a kind of obsessive paranoid insanity that drive some people to kill themselfs.

Having no interest in something doesn't make you phobic. I don't fear someone that's fat or gay or trans, I just have no interest in dating them. Nothing wrong with them as a person. Being labeled as such for not wanting such a person is ridiculous. We don't call homosexuals, heterophobic nor do we call people not in to certain heights as shortphobic. Such things shouldn't exist.

calling things "phobia" when they are just disliked is cringe and peak example of why our academic institutions have collapsed. no academics a phobia is not a "fear or dislike" it is only an irrational fear. you can't redefine words whenever you want

Being obese is terrible for you. It should not be celebrated or encouraged. If you saw someone drink excessively or smoke constantly, you would tell them to stop. That being said, you shouldn't be cruel. That helps no one.

There is no such thing. But if someone who's fat feels ashamed, hopefully that's a motivation to begin to address the problem before it kills them.

There's nothing shameful about wanting to be healthy.
I was rail thin as a kid and often teased about being skinny. Somewhere along the way I lost that natural skinny and now I have to be careful.

It's unhealthy to be fat and a choice, I'm not hearing how a medical condition can make someone stay fat but if you ask them they will tell you how much nasty fast food they eat, no exercise & their lazy.

It’s not a flex to be fat and it definitely shouldn’t be encouraged so I don’t know why fat phobia is even a term. Unless someone is just overweight but healthy then they shouldn’t just accept that they are obese and unhealthy.

Oh, those people who are so obese
Their diets are full of unhealthy grease
The burgers and fries they love to eat
Will give them ailments they'll have to treat

Their health is at risk, that is plain to see
But they just don't care, it's so plain to me
They have no fear of the doctor's fees
And take no care of their heart disease

They think the extra fat looks quite nice
But all the medical bills come at a price
They may be happy and content now
But their future health will be in doubt

So please don't be like these people each day
And instead, find healthier ways to stay
Eat your veggies and get some exercise
For a healthier life and a better defense
