Should Elizabeth Holmes be able to delay her prison sentence?

Holmes, the former CEO of Theranos was convicted last year of defrauding the company's investors of more than $144 million. Holmes promised her startup could run tests on a small amount of blood that could detect serious medical conditions, at one point driving the company's valuation up to $10 billion. Those promises turned out to be false, and she was sentenced to 11 years in Federal prison.

She is trying to delay her prison sentence pending appeal on the basis that she has two young children.

Lol. The fact that she even feels comfortable asking for that shows how privileged she is. This is white collar crime privilege. Her ass needs to be in prison. Someone else can look after her children.

She's hardly a Bernard Madoff. But she's done what most Americans do anyway - make a fool out of investors.

Her sentence is too lenient anyway.

11 years does not seem lenient to me. That is a long time and this is only money.

She shouldn't even go to prison, should instead be forced to work and start making payments back, or be given the choice. Prison or work to pay it back for the rest of her life.

It isn't like she raped or killed someone and got a lenient sentence like many of those criminals get. Take all her assets and force her to work, even if she can never repay it, that should be her penality for life.

She marketed defective medical equipment and blood tests knowingly. It is not clear whether or not she killed anyone. She is a psychopath and is far too dangerous to be let loose in society.

Soft-hearted Judges go for it occasionally. She is awaiting an appeal. She was already tried and convicted and sentenced to 11 years.
