What does your chart about the New York Police department's hit rates have to do with people being armed?

Regardless disarming people is not only political non-viable, its unconstitutional, and effectively impossible. A situation that is only getting worse as the micro-manufacturing revolution has put such weapons and even more powerful versions in the hands of everyone.

Still most gun deaths in this country are suicides, as it happens a firearm is one of the most efficient ways for people to kill themselfs. The other more popular with women is drugs. Even if you could make guns unavailable the same people would still die, via drugs, knifes, or jumping off bridges.

Everyone being armed just leads to more people being shot. You can be armed in a situation where it will do you no good (a very large number of firearms get taken in robberies; by definition the victims were armed). "Good guys" occasionally get shot by the police, how are they supposed to know the difference between an active shooter and someone defending themselves?

In all of the active shooter situations that happened in places where people had guns, the people with guns shot back and stopped the shooter from doing further damage and taking more innocent lives. It's the places where no one has a gun (sitting ducks) where they do the most damage.

Okay, but here's the problem with that line of reasoning: those people go into harm's way ON PURPOSE. It's part of their job. And their enemies (criminals, in the case of police) WANT to shoot them specifically, ON PURPOSE, because they are an obstacle to their goals.
