People celebrating our nation's birthday, just to be gunned down. At least six are dead many more hurt and hospitalized.
This has become just another common occurrence. This isn't happening in other societies with strict gun laws.

Another person just passed away from the shootings.
I get the fact that people who have guns, love and want them. They look at it as a right and not a privilege. I GET IT. People are losing their lives!!! Families are altered forever.
Our laws need to change and be rigorously enforced.

I have maybe a bit better perspective on the gun issue. My dad's a US Navy SEAL officer and we've had discussions on the "assault rifle/AR style" rifles that have been used in most of the mass shootings. He described to me in very vivid detail what a single round from one of those weapons can do to a human body, and trust me, it's not pretty. One of those weapons can fire off rounds as quick as you can pull the trigger, and parts can be obtained to make them fully automatic, in other words they will fire continuously as long as you hold the trigger down. He said these weapons are built to kill, and the only people who should have them are Military and Law Enforcement. I don't really have an issue with someone having a gun or guns, just not a Military style high powered rifle. There needs to be more strict laws on who can buy one of these weapons, more background checks and red flag laws to prevent them from getting into the wrong hands. Any of these Politicians, Democrat or Republican who can not see what needs to be done to prevent these mass shootings is not doing their job of protecting and serving the needs of those who elect them, and we all need to vote such Politicians out of office NOW.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts on this. My only hope is that just maybe this will finally be the time that our elected officials actually put aside their ambitions and affiliations and actually take positive actions to end this senseless murder that happens far too often.
What I would like to know how the shooter got his hands on a high powered rifle. Is that what all you guys sticking up for gun rights have under your bed in case you need protection? Come on! Men will be boys - the difference is the price of their toys! This gun obsession you guys have probably stems from your childhood and you covered your play guns then, and you covet the big boy guns now. Get the lead out of your arses and be reasonable. You sound like you are possessed with guns! I am not going to sugarcoat this but you guys don't sound sensible! Grow up with your obsession with guns! Who is after your arse anyway. How many people died from motor vehicles that day? How many people died from accidental falls or accidental poisoning? How many died from doctor prescribed pharmaceuticals or preventable hospital error?
People who let mainstream media tell them what to be upset about every day crack me up.
People who are quick to take rights away from others can go jump in a toxic lake.
People who support gun control haven't done independent research into the pros and cons. They just let themselves to be emotionalized by mainstream media. And they adopt the attitudes of those in their own social circles.
They haven't looked up statistics on our overall population (number of citizens and non citizens), firearm related homicides, homicides with so-called "assault weapons", percentage of gun-related homicides that are gang related, the top causes of death in the U. S., or number of DGUs (defensive gun uses). Those numbers are available from the FBI, DOJ, and other sites.
This happened in Chicago, right? An area that has the toughest gun laws in the nation, right? Tough gun laws don't take guns away from criminals and sympathy for victims of senseless shootings doesn't change that fact.
People get killed at parades by crazy, angry drivers who want to kill people. No guns involved. So should we take away cars, too?

More people would die if guns were removed than by keeping them. Unless you can guarantee 100% that the government won't allow a single gun into the country across the southern border.

Sure lets outlaw guns but as part of the same amendment REQUIRE POLICE RESPOND TO EVERY CALL in 10 seconds... as fast as it would take me to draw. Or else victims and their families get a billion dollars from the federal government for every failed respond time.

When a mass shooting used a rapid fire weapon, they say ban pistols... but a pistol was nott used! Then they continued bban rapid fire... but knives kill more.
If suggest knifes are a little easier to deal with than that of a firearm. It's the same reason many forms of explosives are illegal to own or put to use within this country.

Take away legal firearms? No. We need to stop illegal gun manufacturing and trafficking and properly deal with the mental health crisis we have in this country. Most of these shootings wouldn't occur if these people were in proper medical facilities where they belong from early on, instead of being allowed to integrate into the general population.

We did have plenty of mental institutions and mental facilities but good ole' Ronnie Reagan closed them all down one day and sent these patients to live on the streets!! @sage2021 I'm 46, and that's not what happened. Live-in mental health facilities started closing in the early 1970s, because many of them were found to be neglectful, and sometimes abusive. Instead of correcting these issues and problems they had, they started shutting down instead. Most of them were gone by the mid 1990s.
