In no media, could I find an explanation. They had dinner the day before. Looking at this guyin every photo even a year later... he was not mentally well. The devil, "roams around like a roaring lion". The seed of this death was planted long before it happened...
with what little I know, I suspect the justification was hate, caused by the difference in energy... the little boy was good and joyful, and Darius for some reasons in the past, was miserable inside. Hate flows to good.

A female friend of mine years ago was very anti gun but was a judo black belt. She got attacked like this, fell and hit her head on the pavement and died.

Sorry to hear that. These kids are strong and motivated. Judo on concrete on the streets doesn't work out like in the dojo on a mat.
Not so sure about a gun... I'd wonder the statistics on success vs fail of using guns. Slight misjudgement, bad aim, hesitate, lot can go wrong.
That said, If I were a woman, I would be armed and prepared in some manner.

A situation where you are attacked is unpredictable and difficult to control. There are a lot of variables that can just go wrong. Judo for self defence not sport is good martial art but it doesn't change their gender, it can help protect them from damage and getting raped but the whole warrior woman thing we see in TV and movies is a myth.
Even if you are armed, a single punch and its lights out. If you are going to get attacked it will be from behind, even in the days of gunslingers in the old West there wasn't a quick draw you got stabbed or shot in the back. But there is something to be said about open carry in that the majority of criminals will not risk attacking someone they know is armed even if they are armed themselves.
