In Your Opinion, Why Is Transgender Identity on the Rise Among Teens?

The inverse of this question would be "why is heterosexual identity on the decline among teens?", and when you compare the two, you start to notice a trend.
In [current year], there are absolutely no benefits to being a "straight person" besides "having the gender identity and sexual orientation people are supposed to have" (because, remember, being gay or bi is still largely considered an anomaly in relation to how humans reproduce). All of society already caters to your sexual orientation, so you get no "points for originality", and in fact, being straight is often now considered a mark against your character. Why? Well, if you're not burdened with some unorthodox sexual identity and/or orientation because you lack gender dysphoria, then you're already in a better position than a gay, bi or trans person, because they've traditionally had to hide their true selves or "stay in the closet". You enjoy the "benefit of the oppressor", and so you are constantly looked at as someone who--even in abject poverty--was born "with a silver spoon in your mouth" compared to trans or POC, and so deserve to be knocked down a peg.
All of this to say, straight people are considered born at baseline and gay/bi/everyone else is born in the negative, so they have to build themselves up to reach the bar set by straight people. Pragmatically-speaking, it is now actually to most sane people's detriment to identify as straight and put themselves at huge cost, when they could instead assign themselves some kind of "label of affirmation" and enjoy society's collective benefit of the doubt about their perceived victimhood. As the last couple of years have demonstrated, the materiality of victimhood simply does not matter (although it helps). What does matters is the feeling of being slighted.
Therefore, the more pertinent question to ask is "why do any non-conservative teens identify as anything other than trans, gay, bi or something else?"
Because loony lefty parents and teachers keep pushing it!! Just because Johnny wants to try on a dress when he's 3 or 4, they think he needs to have a sex change!! Even if the kid doesn't want it, never expressed a need for it and just wanted to see what he looked like in a dress!! Kinda strange how Susie can wear pants and dress up like a boy any time she wants and nobody thinks SHE needs a sex change!
Well, yeah, that's also the case for the vast majority of transgender people.
Scientific research has shown that their brain structure has more in common with what is typical for the gender they identify with.
Some things you may not know about Transgenderism! ↗ (Old post, FYI.)
@goaded From the post you linked
"Brain activity and structure in transgender adolescents more closely resembles the typical activation patterns of their desired gender, according to findings to be presented in Barcelona, at the European Society of Endocrinology annual meeting, ECE 2018. These findings suggest that differences in brain function may occur early in development and that brain imaging may be a useful tool for earlier identification of transgenderism in young people."
This sort of study raises the question "are people who identify with the opposite gender actually the opposite gender or are they merely more comfortable exhibiting the mannerisms of the opposite gender than the one they were born?" Consider this: women who behave like men--that is to say, behaving in stereotypical masculine ways and dressing in men's clothes--used to be labelled "tomboys". The same would apply to men who act and dress like women, who I guess we used to call "femgirls" or "femboys" because I don't know if there was ever an actual designation.
Unless I'm mistaken and there is a method to delineate the two, transgenderism essentially erases this distinction. Where before a woman who dressed and acted like a man was just a masculine woman but still actually a woman, now she would be deemed "actually a man, just trapped in a woman's body". Or was the tomboy always just an unrealized transgender man?
It's easier for men and women to act out the behaviors of the opposite gender than it is for them to surgically inhabit a body commensurate with the expectations for those behaviors. One is a mannerism, the other is an often-very-costly total body conversion.
I stg because people won't stfu about it. Like you wanna change your body? Fine, your life. But honestly just picking at it like racism just makes it so much bigger than it needs to be. And now kids are seeing this and questioning if being trans is what THEY want.
Damn right. They just keep pushing the racism and tranny stuff over, and over and over and over.
Wanna be gay? Fine. You don’t need my approval or anyone else’s. Go be gay. No one cares. Want invert your penis. Fine. Go do it. No one cares. Think blacks have been mistreated historically in America. Fine, they have been. Must we continue to pretend America is like 1950 Mississippi Burning at present time and continue to drudge up events from 350 -160 years ago…. constantly?
I think these people are just looking for attention. Why else would they continue to bring this crap up over and over at infinitum?
@Exterminatore Ey, i saw that movie... and i really wish that we aren't like that one day. Even if it's for a while, just stfu about the old stuff
Monkey see monkey do 🤣
No shit... Right on the money
Fuck em, This is the Internet and bullshit happens.

First and foremost, because marginalization and victimhood are presented as social credit, giving kids an incentive to self-identity as such. There are also tons of (terrible) parents brainwashing that crap into them from a very young age, entirely because it gives themselves a sense of social clout as well. This is honestly probably more common than the teachers themselves pushing it onto kids, which is also a problem. There's also the fact that entertainment media bending the knee to the demands of the ESG crowd are grossly over-representing sexual deviance even in kids' shows in an attempt to groom them into accepting it as normal. This can be accurately seen as a social contagion.
An interesting study I read last year claims that out of the high school and college age LGBTQLMNOP123 crowd, 75-80% have never actually engaged in anything sexual related to their proclaimed sexuality or identity. If that ratio were to be applied to the numbers of alleged trans youths, it would be much closer to what would be considered reasonably consistent with older generations, even if still high.
I honestly believe. the root of the problem is a muddled mess, but here is what I believe is the largest factor.
Acceptance
As a child, I was told I had to be feminine or I would be hated. I couldn't play with toys designed specifically for boys, and I wasn't to dress masculine either. My parents also valued my younger brothers over my sister and I. I was a naturally masculine girl. I liked trucks, boots, dinosaurs, and stereotyped boy things. I kept getting feminine stereotypes shoved on me because I wasn't being "a lady." I don't want to wear a frilly pink dress and play with barbies, let me outside so I can play with the frogs.
Anyways, the lack of acceptance for who I was made me feel like I wasn't normal. Like I was broken. The more I aged, the worse it got. The more I felt that I wasn't feminine at all, and that I never would be good enough. That I'd always be ridiculed. So I transitioned, and I could never be happier.
Children around the globe are currently falling into a pit of identity disorders. Forcing harsh gender stereotypes is only going to make it worse. If you have a child who wants to play with toys of the opposite gender, or has a favorite color that doesn't match the stereotypes, don't make them feel bad. Don't make them feel broken or wrong. You might just hurt them for the rest of their lives
I think it's happening because they are looking for a reason to be different/special. The trans movement has unfortunately opened the door to labelling a bunch of things trans that aren't actually trans. Having a personality that doesn't conform to your gender's stereotype doesn't make you trans, for example; that's just liking what you like.
But, these kids are looking for a way to be special, and calling themselves "trans" is an easy and socially acceptable way to do that.
While I don't rule out people feeling as if they identify as something else, I can't help but question the validity of it with trends on social media or possible grooming and influence from authority figures at a young age taking hold of them.
LGBTQ has always been a fairly minor part of the population as the majority is heterosexual. Now that they have more rights and are being represented and pedastalized more than ever I think it has created a shift on how they are not only perceived but how many people are influenced by the trend shift. Is it a grasp for fame and to get noticed as a way to be accepted and to cover insecurities that lay within the individual with possible mental illness or is it a legitimate identity they feel because of who they grew up as or felt like they were since birth.
Simple: It's a trend. Kids are being groomed.
If you're exposing something to kids more and more, then that's what they will start to believe. If you give kids the illusion that being transgender is some norm, then that's what their frame of reference is going to. It's also because kids try to 'stand out' from others and think it is 'cool' if they come with some out of the world pronouns and claim they are the other sex. This will and has massive consequences on the mental well-being of teens.
It is no secret that there are MANY deTransitioners who REGRET their transitioning. These people often felt misguided and unprotected as kids. We are living in dark times.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/HlCk_dGA28o"on the rise" is a loaded term meant to misrepresent the data.
If 2 people in a group of 2000 are trans, a 400% increase would mean 10 out of 2000 are trans. The difference between 2 and 10 is statistically insignificant, especially factoring in the ease with which people are able to transition these days, and the push for acceptance in trans circles. But a 400% increase is what looks scary in headlines.
A reflection of the media. As well as chemicals and hormones that is in our food and water we drink that disrupt brain and body development. Look at how many young boys out there without transgender issues actually are growing breast tissue and are developing mammary glands. Also this generation of kids is also the most medicated.
It is a trend to be transgendered. Like being depressed was a trend, i think a decade ago (think emos and MySpace era).
Also a lot of children in America are basicaly groomed to become transgender. Trans in kindergardens, kid books that trach that it is great, some "woke" parents trying to convince kids that they are not what they were born as, and so on
The media and all the lunatics on the left are pushing this as a really cool thing to do. These poor kids are confused enough as it is and want to be accepted more than anything else so they go for it. I imagine most of the time it doesn't fix all their problems but it's too late at that point.
IMHO, today's schools no longer really teach. They indoctrinate students in the mindset liberals wish them to have so they'll never have an understanding of the real world. This "gender identity" crap is just one of those flavors of Kool-Aid being force down children's throats.
Because gen z is the most accepting generation in forever. They want you to feel comfortable in your skin. There is really no other reason other than trans people feel more comfortable and feel like they are able to be their true selves. Past generations either hid their feelings till death (whether that be by their own hands or not), suppressed them or transitioned as adults.
Because people have more access to that stuff nowadays and younger people learn about it since it's talked about more among their peers. Gender identity is also something that gets more realized by the person themselves as they get older. A lot of people who question their gender identity don't realize it until their older teens or adulthood. Or at least they don't come to the conclusion until then.
Because they still have child brains and believe anything they’re told. They’re even teaching that Torosaurus sh*t in SCHOOL now and I spam texted my mom about it when I first saw it this Monday saying things like, “AAAAHHHHHH, AAHHH, AHHH! THESE WOKE TRASH CANS ARE TRYING TO GROOM US WITH THEIR IDENTITY POLITICS, AAAHHH”. DisGUSTING. This is literally a watered down version of the Holocaust
because when its not as taboo or they aren't as bullied about coming out as before its likely gonna be that way. its more socially accepted in major parts of society now.
like when gay marriage was legalized and you saw a rise in people and teens coming out its because its safer and less socially taboo to do so.
Gays and people with gender dysphoria have always existed with us but recently its became socially acceptable for them to come out and express who they truly are.
Maybe because young people are more comfortable being who they are. In the past, people felt public pressure to hide it and live a life that presented an image that was a lie. Nowadays people just don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks and they live how they choose. Why do people need to be confined in a box to make others happy? I don’t get it.
As it is said. It might be in the water!
I have heard that it is thought that the drugs and hormones that people take are passing through their bodies and ending up in the sewage treatment plants. When those plants discharge their water into the rivers and streams. They are having an adverse effect on the fish.
People drink the municipal water and eat the fish?
Social media makes it desirable to be different
Simple. We're producing a generation of people who see that apparently being different from everyone else makes you special. So now you have people just saying they're something for that little chance people will think they're cool
Due to moral decline and intentionally socially engineering to make it not only tolerated but celebrated.
The main cause is godlessness.
That is a weird one, I agree it seems like it’s on the rise. Either media influence and it’s the cool thing to say, or it’s always been that way and now people feel open talking about it
I think it's because there's less stigma to it. In the 1950s there were practically no gay teens (of course, there were, but they were scared to come out and be seen).
It's a trend. Being "average" is never something teens want.
Don't forget to see the detransitioning stats too!
It's something like 0.5% to 4%. https://www.gendergp.com/detransition-facts/
The media and some schools are trying to teach it
grooming people who are not mentally mature. If you start them young enough you could convince them to love eating feces too!
It's because they wanna follow whatever's popular at the moment and have no mind of their own
Coz it’s trending and pressure from everywhere
People are becoming more comfortable on who they want to be, but the insecure bigots of this world feel threatened by it. They would rather teens be mindless religious robots.
You aren’t too bright, are you?
@Anonymous Rather to be a "mindless religious robot" who isn't denying basic biology and common sense than to follow a post-modernist trend that has lead to a high number of suicides and health complications. Don't want to hear it from me? Then listen to the ones who went through it themselves:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlCk_dGA28o
Because it's popular and people who "come out" get lots of attention. Teens want attention and they imitate what they see in the media.
because teens are stupid and follow stupid trends. that's why.
Because of our schools and this progressive left LGBTQ faggit stuff teaching kids
For many girls and boys they find they are generally happier being the opposite sex. I don't blame them.
There is an increase in kids who are more comfortable with coming out to people, not an increase overall.
Nowadays, nothing sexual is taboo any more. So they had to invent something new.
Social media.. Brain washing.. Rampant leftism in schools.
Children are very susceptible to popular pressure and manipulation.
It's always been there. Maybe it's considered more acceptable now?
No idea. My best guess it's because I think young teens think LGBT is cool and trendy right now.
Why not? women, even trans women, have all the advantages.
Social contagion and grooming.
I guess OP didn't like my reply where I said the same thing.
Because it's now "trendy".
Autism plus it's trendy.
Liberal indoctrination in schools
Probably was always present just never came out
Mental illness trend.
Gender is a spectrum
