Let's take Norway as an example. To become a cop in Norway you need to take a university education that last 3-5 years depending on what type of cop your going to be. You need to pas all exam's. And you need to pas physical and emotional tests. Then and only then can you become a cop here. And because of that cops here almost never shoot people, and if they do it almost never ends up in fatality. So what instead of saying should cops have guns, we should say why should cops not have a higher education to become a cop.

While I do not approve of the states militarization of peace officers. I do believe they still need to hold lethal and non lethal arms. Do they need hummers and advanced long rifles to do their job no. I do however think they need to reallocate funds to mental health assessment classes and recurring firearm safety and training. I believe they are peace officers for a reason. Not tactical strike teams with no liability.
