What? That flies against all the logic of gun rights aholes! Can you believe this guy?
Anonymous(25-29)1 yThen why does the officer carry a gun? I think a lot of officers would disagree with this officer. Guns save lives and cops are mostly heroic but they aren’t Batman. They can’t just appear out of thin air to save the day.
Most cops think extra gun laws are NONSENSE. Cops with more experience then stopping people for simple traffic violations and hell even many of them. Will tell you that taking guns form good people isn’t going to stop any crime. Criminals will find ways to obtain firearms.
As far as surviving traffic stops is a legitimate complaint. But there is unreasonable search and seizure

@Juxtapose And the Supreme Court is never wrong, is it?
- 1 y
@Juxtapose I’m answering his question. I don’t agree with scotus but I acknowledge it. More than you fucks do (ie Roe).
I’m just saying, cops apparently don’t like guns on persons of interests. Obliterating any argument that more guns saves lives or creates a peaceful society.
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded Yeah Roe V Wade. Also the Supreme Court said black people aren’t fully human. So I agree. But they also overturned rhise rulings.
But Coney-Barrett is a cowardly POS. With her last ruling shows it
Opinion Owner1 yYou will never take all the guns from criminals. You will take guns from law abiding citizens.
Guns save a lot more lives. The media just doesn’t cover a lot of the stories where good people stop what could be mass shootings ir criminal action.
Areas with the strictest gun laws oddly enough have the most gun crimes.
Opinion Owner1 yNow. To just dump guns on the street won’t solve anything. But legal gun owners will.
What’s odd is a lot of you people who call for taking guns away. Also want to defund the police.
Opinion Owner1 yCriminals aren’t going to give their guns up and if they do it won’t be all of them.
Opinion Owner1 yIf someone wants to do a voluntary “buy back” program to make people “FEEL” safer. Then that’s one thing.
Opinion Owner1 yAnd you just need a lesson in reality
Opinion Owner1 yThe places with the strictest gun laws in the USA have the highest gun crime. Per capita. Areas that have little to none hardly have any.
If people knew everyone was armed. They wouldn’t rob, rape, steal, or mass shoot people. Because when they do. They’re shot
Opinion Owner1 y
Opinion Owner1 yIt’s funny how you probably want to send guns to Ukraine. But. Disarm Americans
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose yeah exactly
- 1 y
Ukraine needs to kill invading Russians. You can’t have it both ways. Guns either make things unsafe like war, or makes things safer- which it never does.
And we need to settle this city versus state thing. Either we look at whole states controlled by R’s or D’s or cities, a city in a R state doesn’t have carte blanche power.
Opinion Owner1 yReally? So many times someone shoots a attacker or stops a mass shooting. Why do police officers carry guns? If guns don’t make you safer. Why does at least almost every law enforcement officer in the US carry a gun
- 1 y
Gosh, Forbes really wants to stoke the fear of crime, doesn't it?
About 2021: "Crime is surging in the US—and it’s only getting worse..."
About 2022: "Although data shows that violent crime rates dropped in cities across the United States last year, crime is an increasing concern among many Americans"
Ignore the data, folks! Worry about crime! (We have no idea why people might worry about crime.)
The link doesn't address my question at all: What are the gun laws in the darker states like?
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded gosh you love this circular logic don’t you. www.statista.com/.../
If you really look at the data. Most of it’s done in the big cities. Such as STL. Or KC or SPFLD
Opinion Owner1 yBaltimore. New Orleans and the list goes on.
You probably have never worked in law enforcement or been around what law enforcement sees. You just listen to the media says and believe anyrhing they say. When half the time they don’t even believe it themselves
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded more people are armed who live outside of cities and oddly enough. They hardly commit any crime
Opinion Owner1 yCCW holders commit the least amour of crime. It’s mostly felons with guns
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded i mean sir if you want to be a sitting duck when someone comes to shoot, Rob, rape, etc tku or someone around you.
Opinion Owner1 yYour choice
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded you’re just not gonna answer mine kind sir
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded you’re probably either sone sadly misled person or a paid operative
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose all you leftists love going on irrelevant rants. When you can’t prove your point on one thing. You jump to a whole other topic.
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose I mean I feel bad for you. You probably support abortion. Only so pro abortion weirdos will sleep with you
- 1 y
@goaded you say that but you completely ignore the state of Maine which allows open and concealed carry without any sort of license. Maine is the top right stay on the map that looks like the cat head.
Places are going to have the most crime are cities. Gang warfare between black people is going to have a really high death toll as well sadly.
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose well. A lot of the CIA is criminal. You have a point there. There is good people in the CIA and misled well meaning individuals.
But. You have this dude with rhe Ukraine flag. Always pushing CIA Propaganda. He’s almost as bad as Chef Pappy
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose if you look at countries with low gun crimes. There is a LOT of knife stabbing.
- 1 y
Opinion Owner:
1. You better get used to supporting moderates like me because I'm one of the only types of group who can help save you from the authoritarian Marxist variant of the left that those two represent.
2. I am answering multiple people homie!
3. Good, I don't want to be stuck with a kid. Even if my woman uses birth control properly then every 1 fuck out of 100 is going to result in a scare. Fuck that.
4. The CIA is straight up a criminal organization that conspired to mind control Americans using LSD. Anybody who is inside that organization is either ignorant to a severe degree or morally compromised. The organization in its entirety should be scattered into a thousand pieces.. oh wait, JFK said that and they fucking killed him!
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose you’re right about the CIA. If you don’t want to get a woman pregnant. Don’t have sex. Don’t be one of those deadbeats who fuck women, knock them up, and run off. Never paying child support. It’s just like women who get abortions. Don’t want to face consequences
Opinion Owner1 yBecause you know. She does not have to get a abortion.
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose I won’t disagree on the CIA stuff. But people like the Ukraine supporter will call you a conspiracy theroist
- 1 y
That's a silly statement. I never want children so I am never supposed to have sex unless I sterilize myself? Get real man. This isn't the medieval ages anymore, she can literally take a pill the next day and induce a miscarriage if needed.
I don't really care what he thinks I am. I know I am right.
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose well. Killing a baby out of convenience isn’t right. I mean you say you’re a moderate. What about late term abortion? Even until birth
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose also yeah. If you don’t want to get someone pregnant either don’t have sex or get steralized. At the very least she can take birth control and you can or use condoms
- 1 y
Birth control fails 1% of the time even with perfect use homie. That literally means that you have a little more than three scares per year if you have sex once per day for the entire year.
A zygote is not a baby. If you don't have a brain stem, you are not even capable of having a consciousness. That is not human to me.
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose so you disagree with late term abortion?
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose 1 percent of the time. Meaning if you have sex 100 times.
- 1 y
@goaded the U. K doesn't have black people that have been poisoned by Jim Crow and Hip Hop culture. The Democrats also made sure to destroy the black nuclear family, So now the Crips and the Bloods have plenty of recruits for their gang warfare.
I also have plenty of gun statistics I can bring out if I need to. Essentially, if you get rid of the gangs and repeat offenders then almost all of America's gun crimes disappear. - 1 y
"71% of gunshot victims had previous arrest records.
64% had been convicted of a crime.
Victims had an average of 11 prior arrests. 1, 2
63% of victims had criminal histories and 73% of that group knew their assailant (twice as often as victims without criminal histories). 3
74% of homicides during the commission of a felony involve guns. 4
Only 25% of victims and 13% of perps did not show any evidence of engaging in criminal/deviant lifestyles (i. e., prior arrests, gang membership, and/or drug dealing) prior the homicide. 5
Recidivism is exceptionally high among criminals with previous gun-related charges, 70% higher than for non-gun first offenders. 6
Most gun violence is between criminals with collateral damage. This should be the public policy focus." - 1 y
@Juxtapose "you say that but you completely ignore the state of Maine which allows open and concealed carry without any sort of license"
So? Firearms are still used in most of the murders there, and many of the states with high murder rates have laws that don't allow local (city) governments to impose their own gun laws, which means it's the state's fault that they're so lax.
It's possible to write laws that protect people's need for firearms while restricting them where they cause the most harm. Most farmers in the UK, for example, own at least a shotgun. - 1 y
" @Juxtapose 1 percent of the time. Meaning if you have sex 100 times. "
No, it means that, of couples using that form of contraception for a year, 1 in 100 will have a pregnancy. - 1 y
@goaded well duh dude. Do you expect them to use their hands?
Gun laws are almost entirely unconstitutional and I oppose them in their entirety. No background checks, no waiting, no restrictions besides the age of 18.
I can go to Walmart and get a gun right now. For most of my life I have lived in states that have open and concealed carry with pretty much no restrictions. - 1 y
@Juxtapose It's not "every time you take the pill", that's ridiculous because it takes time and many pills to have an effect. However, you're right that the figures you're talking about aren't the ones I was thinking of:
![Cop: “Guns don’t make me safer”?]()
www.acog.org/.../effectiveness-of-birth-control-methods - 1 y
@Juxtapose "I can go to Walmart and get a gun right now. For most of my life I have lived in states that have open and concealed carry with pretty much no restrictions. "
Yes, and 75% of murders in those states are committed with guns and the murder rate is far higher than other western countries. They're also really popular for suicide. - 1 y
@Juxtapose We've discussed that flawed list of statistics before (I pointed out at least one outright lie, which you didn't care about), and how even if the statistics are true, they're stated in a misleading way.
e. g. "71% of gunshot victims had previous arrest records.", not "29% of gunshot victims had no previous arrest record".
"64% had been convicted of a crime.", not "36% had never been convicted of a crime."
etc.
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose I agree with you there on late term. Yeah you’re right you’re a lot more moderate. A lot of leftists think anyone who thinks anything outside of what they do is alt right wing.
So. Welcome to the side of common sense
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose unless you agree with them on literally everything. People like goaded thinks you’re a right wing extremist.
When in reality. Most people on this website seem to lean moderate to right wing. Even some of the more “liberal” people I’ve talked to lean right compared to the far left
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded Romney is a RINO, Republican in name only. A lot of the Republicans are just as bad as the democrats.
Murders should be locked up in prison for life and never have access to firearms. But bumfuck prosecutors and judges are the ones letting them out, yes even for gun crimes
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded I want to get rid of anyone in congress with nefarious intentions. Whcih would be MOST of them with some exceptions.
But you really think. Anybody that has a opinion outside of your own is right wing. If you’re a old school democrat alt right, if you’re centrist alt right, if you’re moderate left alt right, if you’re apolitical you’re alt right.
If you aren’t a FAR left Democrat…. Which you are. You’re alt right- 1 y
See, that's just the sort of thing a right wing extremist would say. Romney has been a Republican for over 30 years, he was even their candidate for president. Maybe the people who want to end democracy in the US are the RINOs; nobody else ever went as far as trying to overturn the results of an election they lost.
Republicans used to claim to be the party of law and order; their leader today is facing 91 criminal charges and the RINOs are fine with that.
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded yeah and look at Nathan Wade and his sugar mama Fani Willis. Look at the judge in the New York case taking naked gym selfies.
These are all freaks. We try to be the party of Law and order. But these soft on crime prosecutors would rather persecute Trump. One over a misdemeanor trying to make it a felony past the statutes of limitations Alvan Bragg. Defending a porn star
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded have you seen E Jean Carol? The lady is a nut case
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded probably not honeslty. It’s like getting Trumps tax returns and he’s paid hundreds of millions.
None of you look st Biden’s record. You just gaslight and deflect off on Trump. You see how we go from talking gun laws, to abortion, and now to Trump?
Y’all love changing the subject when you can’t back something up and your circular reasoning isn’t working anymore
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded I’ve said many times. Taking guns from LAW ABIDING citizens. Criminals will continue to find ways to get their hands on guns. I know where the highest murders are and other gun related crimes. And it’s in the inner cities. Which most of the time have the strictest gun laws
- 1 y
Possibly, in your non-anon state. But "U. S. rural areas average around six homicides per 100,000 people.", which is almost the same as the national average of 6.4, and four or five times that of countries with sensible gun laws. www.nola.com/.../...a6-11ed-86db-b7b123e7d8c0.html
Opinion Owner1 yI know a lot of cops and none of you people have probably ever been around law enforcement of military.
Opinion Owner1 yWell. A unarmed person can’t shoot them. Yes you’re right. Cops do have to be careful who they pull over. But there is also a reason law enforcement officers carry guns.
Opinion Owner1 yI guess the cops would feel safer if they did away with their guns wouldn’t they. Most cops also know. If someone’s being robbed, raped, a place is being shot up. That they want to get there as quickly as they can. But they aren’t a superhero. Okay.
Opinion Owner1 yIf you’re in a situation where a armed person is trying to cause you harm. Idiots like yourslef won’t carry a gun to defend your self
- 1 y
@Opinion Owner if they had their way, small women and the elderly would have no recourse for self-defense.
Remember, first they are going to want a registry because they cannot take away your guns properly without a registry. Always oppose a registry and never cooperate with it.
The second amendment says "shall not be infringed" and the Supreme Court has already ruled we do not need to be part of an organization to be strapped. - 1 y
@Juxtapose " @goaded Mitt Romney is literally the guy who said corporations are people. You really can't get more deep state than Mitt Romney and you want to proclaim he is in any way a sincere moderate? Are you crazy? "
I said he was a Republican; that sort of behaviour has been par for the course for decades.
Extreme right wingers are the sort that want to ignore elections, replace the entire government bureaucracy with loyalists to their dear leader and hand guns to criminals as they get out of prison.
(That last one is a slight exaggeration of your contention that there should be zero restrictions on firearm ownership.) - 1 y
@Juxtapose are there any rules?
Opinion Owner1 y@Sevenpointfive y’all give it a rest. Ifs been days now
Opinion Owner1 y@Juxtapose oh so sorry I was trying to respond to the goaded. YEA!!! You are absolutely right.
They want to take guns away from people who are vulnerable
Opinion Owner1 yYeah. It’s not worth getting into circular reasoning with these people brother. They will never admit they’re wrong no matter what tiu sjow or tell them
Opinion Owner1 yThey would rather focus on Mitt Romney then guns. It deflects
- 1 y
@Sevenpointfive I would imagine keeping them away from minors but let adults make their own decisions.
People who are for gun control don't even know what the AR in the AR-15 stands for xD - 1 y
@Juxtapose Citizens United had nothing to do with Clinton.
You mean this paragraph? "Extreme right wingers are the sort that want to ignore elections, replace the entire government bureaucracy with loyalists to their dear leader and hand guns to criminals as they get out of prison."
147 Republicans in congress literally voted to ignore the results of the 2020 election, https://project2025.org is literally a plan to replace the entire government bureaucracy with loyalists, and more guns mean more deaths. But it describes the Democrats. - 1 y
@goaded the 2020 election was rigged. It's perfectly reasonable to question it and want more election security. There's a reason why we need same day voting, no machines, no watchdogs mysteriously kicked out, etc. Biden DID NOT get more votes and even more black votes than the first black president. That is ridiculous.
Do you really think citizens united is the only thing that open the door to corruption? Clinton did a lot of harmful deregulation. - 1 y
@Juxtapose The states said their elections were secure. The feds said the elections were secure. The courts said the elections were secure. But you know better. (I'm seeing a pattern, here.)
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded y’all give it a rest. You’re the ones who don’t think women or elderly people should have a self defense weapon.
I pray nothing bad happens to you. Because you’re going to be sitting there as a sitting duck with no way to defend yourself

1.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I've known a number of police officers personally - have a few in the family in fact - and I used to train officers as a certified handgun trainer. Not all police are the same.
I would say that 50-60% of police are fairly stereotypical - they do their best to be competent in all areas of their job, and while they may not always be perfect, they're quite good and reasonably good at what they do.
There's another maybe 20% who really don't have what it takes to do the job - they lack the common sense, they struggle to absorb any kind of training (laws, procedures, or physical skills), but they're trying to get through 20 years to get a pension.
And finally, there's about 20% who are more political than anything else - they are ticket-punchers who are wanting to get enough experience (on paper, at least) to be a Chief Of Police, or to run for some other political office, and they don't really care about doing the actual job. These people MOSTLY find ways to stay in the office, and some have connections that allow them to get out of patrol duty.
For the two latter groups, their gun is just a piece of gear that they have to lug around everyday - no different from their radio or handcuffs - and they really only see it as an inconvenience 90% of the time and a sign of authority 10% of the time, when they want to throw their weight around. The ONLY time they ever think about HOW to use their gun is once a year when they are required to qualify, and they tend to do JUST ENOUGH to barely squeak by, and then forget it all until next year.
If you are talking to one of THOSE cops, you're going to get a lot of very crazy answers to questions, because these people have very little connection to the reality of the job or to their city or neighborhoods or citizens or business-owners. They tend to be extremely self-centered and can't be bothered to worry about other people.
Once you understand this, you will understand that you can't just take their positions as worth listening to just because they are a member of a police department. They aren't the guys out risking their lives every day trying to deal with crime - or if they are, they're the kind who spend as much time as possible AVOIDING responding to calls.
This guy is definitely one of those sandbaggers.

So many assumptions, @MrOracle. Apart from anything else, according to the officer in the video he is "out risking [his life]" performing traffic stops, like this one, hundreds of times a year, but you're willing to claim he's not because it doesn't match your narrative.
While we're at it, the woman refused to comply with the requests of the officer, which is something many black people get shot for, and the final compromise was not something she offered before the end of the video. She didn't want him to touch the gun.
6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Gun enthusiasts have always known this. The problem is they were never honest about what they were after in the first place. They said they were arming themselves to protect themselves but actually they were arming themselves so they always have the option of assaulting others if they get mad.
11 Reply892 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Well there's hundreds of americans who have travelled outside the U. S. and say they feel a lot safer because they don't have to worry about people having guns everywhere. And a cop would be the person who notices the most if your country is safe or not. And you can look at deaths from violent crime per capita and compare it to other countries. U. S. is at 6.4 and Switzerland is at 0.5. But I didn't see the part where he said he didn't feel safe he said he has to deal with guns a lot and that's why he doesn't want this person taking out their gun themselves and that makes total sense.

01 Reply4.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That's like saying a fire extinguisher does not make you safer against fires. Just think of a gun somebody carries around as a crisis extinguisher for certain crises.. like robbery or rape.
Especially for women or the elderly, a firearm is the only thing that closes the gap when seconds count and police are minutes away. If you live out in the sticks, it could take them hours.

You go ahead and say that to an old woman who has no other possible means of self-defense. Or what about my sister who is less than 5 ft tall? I guess she's just fucked if some guy who 7 ft decides to rape her, isn't she?
Oh wait, she actually has a gun and knows how to use it! Turns out she's not so fucked. - 1 y
It doesn't matter how many of them do it, they should have that option. And Russia has pretty bad crime rates with stricter gun laws so it's really not the fault of guns.
Also you would be taking my little sister's gun away from her and making her defenseless against anyone of my strength. I have trained with her in martial arts and I know that strength and reach matters. Women who are small need an answer to multiple, muscular male assailants who plan to violate her as well. - 1 y
I literally am a leftist. I know you authoritarian leftists are not used to opposition from the left since you crushed dissenting voices like Bernie Sanders and even AOC.
AOC wanted to vote a certain way and after being made to cry by Nancy Pelosi she changes her vote to fucking present.
Bernie Sanders wanted to do things a certain way and then legal action was threatened against his wife by the DNC.
There are no liberals in the Democratic party. - 1 y
Why would the deep state do that when they can just phase out normal cars and give people electric cars that are controlled by AI that they themselves control? At that point the deep state gets to control how people move, seems like a big win for them. Meanwhile confiscating guns will make their resistance helpless.
I am a liberal regardless if you like it or not. I am for liberty and sensible restrictions on corporations. A liberal should actually be pretty close to a libertarian except they do not let corporations go hog wild.
Is some gay couple screwing in their own home going to affect me? No? Then I don't care.
Is some gay couple demanding their pronouns be made into law going to affect me? Absolutely. - 1 y
