When a life is in jeopardy the police are minuets away or if you are in a rural area maybe more than 20 minuets.
In the Mall incident there just happened to be an armed 22 yo man who stopped the shooter before the police made an appearance, unfortunately 3 people were killed and one wounded before the 22 yo man could stop the shooter.
In Uvalde one armed teacher could have stopped that shooter in his tracks, but we'll never really know because the teaching unions are rabidly 'anti-gun', but they never give a valid reason why they are so.

100% false. Police aren't personal security. Police are paid to enforce laws that are written on the books, not to be your personal body guard.

Nah, false. With the issue of police response time and the fact that they aren’t even legally obligated to protect anyone, I’d rather just do what I can to protect myself and my family/friends. Of course if I’m in a situation where I don’t have anything on/with me I’d still try to get to a spot that gives me an advantage and try to call in the police.

Even besides that event, the police are often an "after the fact/incident" kind of help for criminals to get jail time. Police often do NOT prevent harm because they are usually not present when needed. Even if someone only has a pocket knife and the other person has their phone in hand they could still kill the person within seconds and it will take police anywhere from 5 minutes to 40 minutes depending on their location to respond.

I just don’t want to be anywhere with an “I’ll shoot you” mentality, whether it’s for bad or supposed “good.” Absolutely fucking crazy that we treat each other like this. I’ve never wondered if I could go on living, but now I’m starting to wonder. I just don’t feel safe in this country surrounded by these kinds of terrible people. Honestly disgusted by Americans and our attitudes lately, just in general.
