Since being sexually assaulted by some random then having a protection order expire and the same person attempt to break into my car 3 years later and it just so happened that the paper expired and he couldn’t be arrested I carry. I made sure to let the officer on duty know the next time he gets shot.

I have been raised around guns and live a lone. The police cannot always get here in time and I do not have the money for private security. I have taken safety courses and have my concealed carry. I will protect myself if needed. My father and mother also raised me this way.

It's dumber than dumb to place blind trust in government and its employees.
Governments can turn on the citizenry. And government employees - police, security forces and military - will do whatever they are ordered to do, even if it's immoral. We see it every day. Look how places like Australia are treating those who are protesting against lockdowns and vax passports. That's benevolence for you.
Police in totalitarian regimes follow the law. And totalitarian regimes have generally low crime rates. But what people in those countries fear are police and security forces. So yeah, trust government. It would never lie to you. All it wants is for you to be safe, happy and prosperous. LOL
Only slaves lack the ability to defend themselves. They are loyal subjects as opposed to free citizens.
Notice that the more fucked up life gets for people, the more crime increases. And who is responsible for things being fucked up? Clue: government. So government fucks things up and then proposes a solution: more authoritarianism.
Even the idea that America is awash in gun violence is a joke.

So compare 16,000 to other causes of death. Over 250,000 accidental hospital deaths.
40,000 deaths from accidental freaking falls. Are you terrified of that? 40,000 from accidental poisoning. Yes, commonly available substances. Over 38,000 highway fatalities. Are you afraid to get in a car?
It helps to keep numbers in perspective when we are talking about a population of 330 million citizens and, actually, more like 450 million people in the country at any one time.
The FBI estimates that 80% of firearm related homicides are gang related. That means that 20% of 16,000, or 3,200 firearm related homicides, are not gang related. OMG, the humanity!!! I'm terrified to leave my home!
If gun possession is outlawed, will that prevent gangs and criminals from obtaining them? And if not, won't that make honest citizens sitting ducks?
Now lets look at instances of defensive gun use (DGU). The most conservative credible estimates are around 150,000. The DOJ estimated it at closer to 1.5 million. And some estimates are as high as 3.5 million.
DGU doesn't even mean that a gun was fired. When a gun IS fired in self defense, a criminal is seldomly ever injured, let alone killed. And there are almost no instances of "collateral damage" by citizens. By police, yes. By citizens, no.
When looking at the DGU instances, how many of those prevented rape, brutality, injury, disfigurement, trauma, theft of valuable or irreplaceable possessions?
So guns are very useful defensive tools. Criminals are less afraid of police than the possibility that a citizen might be armed. An armed citizenry actually deters crime.
The fact of armed citizens also serves to keep the government in check. That was the intent of the second amendment in the first place. Then there is the ability to hunt for food. Lastly, target shooting is a valid sport/recreation. It's fun, teaches discipline, safety and hand-eye coordination.
People who support the "gun control" agenda haven't thought things through. They have no clue about the real reason why globalist elites are so bent on disarming the public. It's not for our safety, that's for sure. Morons consume mainstream media and believe whatever they are told.A few years ago we had received a call that the alarm tripped at my aunts house. They winter in the South every year and were not around to react or even find out what was going on. It was maybe midnight, their house is remote, so it's not unlikely that somebody would have known they were gone and decided it's an easy take to rob the place. I'd been dressed, armed, and drove 8 miles from where I live to their house. I swept the house with a neighbor who my aunt also called. Once we found there was nobody there we went back out to our cars. The police rolled in about 5 minutes after we already finished clearing the house.
The point is that the police don't know what's going on. They got an alert that a robbery was in progress, and it still took them 20 minutes to show up. The police are unable to serve every possible situation. They can't defend us when somebody is trying to harm us. If I can be as ill-prepared as somebody asleep could be and then do the policeman's job faster than they can, that's evidence that I am my own protection, not them.
Also private security isn't cheap but they are typically much more effective.Firstly, it's guaranteed in our constitution. Read it, then compare it to what's goin on in the USA right now. I'm afraid that another revolutionary war is coming. And if you think that things would be better without firearms, you need to study some countries that have banned them. Really study them, crimes, up or down, violence, not just gun crimes.
Some things to think about:
How long could you hold off an intruder in your home? He will have a gun, he's a criminal, laws don't affect them
Your wife, daughter, girlfriend, sister, mom, grandma is getting raped with a knife or gun to their head. Do you just ask politely for them to stop?
You come home and burglaries in progress, do you say please bring my stuff back.
The economy collapses, everything shuts down, looting is rampant, you have food enough food for your family for a year. Everybody else has run out, how you gonna stop them from taking yours? Call the cops, they'll have guns to come a take it.
With a gun you can hunt your food.

That’s why we have guns.no, that argument is wrong for the simple reason that, the ability for me to have a safe life, should NEVER be based on whether or not other people ( police/security) are around to "protect" me or not. The "debate" is over. The reason guns are needed has been shown.In my personal experience. A surveillance security system is only good for defending your death in court. An alarm gives you time to protect yourself, but crazies don’t care about alarms either. I’ve had some insane neighbors who terrified the neighborhood. Everyone had put up cameras. You are on your own in some situations. Police, city, etc. all fear crazy people. They delay or don’t show up, on purpose.
And these were people armed with twelve guns themselves.
If on your own do you even the odds? Or sit and wait for law who may or may not come? And if they do show up won’t watch security footage of actual crime, “It’s a civil matter.”
That is a personal decision.That's not what police/security is for. The Supreme Court ruled long ago that the police are not obligated to protect you or legally responsible for your safety. And even if they were there's limited numbers of cops. Some large cities only have a tiny number of officers on duty at night. If you just happened to need help when the police are busy... take a number, right? Maybe if they show up an hour after you called you'll still be unharmed. Having a firearm (and knowing how to use it safely) is worth 30k cops to me.
I know one thing, I saw cities get burned to the ground last summer. I saw people get hurt, bashed in the head with rocks, shot at, beaten in mobs and there wasn't a policeman in sight. The media seldom brings it up, but more than 25 people were killed in those riots. And people did call the police only to have the dispatcher say, "What would you have us do, ma'am? The city is under attack, there is no one to come.'
If you did not learn anything else from those riots, you should have learned, the police cannot always make it. The police are under no obligation to protect you... they can just not show up if the decided to. In my opinion everyone should learn how to protect themselves firs and foremost.

No I don’t agree with that at all. I take responsibility for my own security and safety.
Three times I had LEO's as neighbors. They all said very seldom did they arrive while the crime was in progress. (That doesn't include traffic violations.) The courts have said LE does not have responsibly for your protection. Maybe, if you live in a nice subdivision you don't need a firearm. Those of us living in other areas generally have higher crime rates and a firearm may be a viable self protection option.
