Yes as their lives are on the line at any time, so they are touchy people... it's an awful job in this society. In China, it's a lot safer.. because of the strictness and culture.

Never "jack" with police. Putting them on edge is a bad move... life ending.

Then when they have to make split second decisions, sometimes they make the wrong ones... or ones that are too aggressive. Who knows what they were dealing with 10min before, or days before... or over the last 20 years that conditioned them.

Most "normal" people don't have this reality.

People were warned not to do what they did in Minneapolis and it cost a life. Learn the lesson from it, to avoid more.

"People" who are an imminent deadly threat to the officer or innocents, yes. About like the UK, where police shot and killed about 3 people a year in the 2020's. Not like the US where the police shoot and kill three people a day.

"People" as in just anybody who says a mean thing to them, no. Not even if they think they're a "fucking bitch". Not even if they're trying to get away.

Of course you're talking about the murder of the woman who could trivially have been arrested, charged, and probably convicted with assault or attempted assault had the murderer simply followed protocol and stepped to one side rather than shooting her, at least two of the three shots coming from a position of complete safety, next to the car.

Killing the driver didn't affect the car at all, other than letting it carry on out of control and cause a crash, so he wouldn't have suffered any worse injury than he did (and he clearly walked away).

@DonaldDarko Uvalde is a very small town... not even 20k people, so their police department was also small, and not trained at all "nothing ever happened there"

most of their forces though, were heavily armed, fully geared and all that, but absolute no idea of what to do with any of that so they just chickened out, plain and simple

by the time that the Sheriff, the State and the Feds arrived... the chaos was already out of control, and all the police force was more focused on the parents trying to break into the school themselves, some of them with their own guns...

400 officials arrived... but none of them received an order, there was no leadership, no protocol... and just no soul apparently...

they all just stood there for over an hour, hearing shots after shots and more shots and they just those kids die unnecessarily

No, shooting someone should be the absolute last resort after all other options are exhausted, and even then, the police should only shoot to disable someone by wounding them, they should deliberately avoid trying to kill the person if it can be avoided, for personal defense, people do have the right to self defense.

Higher, they're trained not to panic in stressful situations. Or they should be. ICE has more than halved the training time and is hiring people who have criminal records and positive drug tests to keep the numbers up.

In genuine self-defense, yes, I think that police have a right to have their own lives, too. However, they abuse that privilege horribly on a routine basis, and I don't know what we should be doing about it.
