Why do you think the ICC got a warrant for Putin’s arrest?

I think it’s to force America’s hand to use direct action against Russia.

America, actually does not participate in the ICC because of it’s lack of compatibility with the Constitution. It would also allow the prosecution of Americans for crimes on American soil.

However, there are NATO members that submit to the ICC. These NATO members will act on that warrant. And any attempt to apprehend and capture Putin will be an act of war. Obviously Russia won’t peacefully surrender Putin.

Once a NATO ally is in a war, America is obligated to come to the aid of NATO allies.

To be clear the arrest warrant is largely symbolic. Nobody has the authority to go to Russia and arrest Putin, and Russia itself never ratified the Rome Statute. It does however prevent Putin from leaving Russia and serves to further marginalize his regime in international affairs.

I think the ICC arrest warrant for Putin has been issued at the behest of the American government. This stops Putin from traveling to countries that recognise the ICC.

America does not participate with the ICC simply because it would give the ICC power over American leaders and subjecting them to the rule of international law. Russia like America does not participate in the ICC yet Putin has an arrest warrant on him over Ukraine while former Presidents Bush and Obama do not. There was talk of an arrest warrant for former President Bush and British PM Tony Blair but America is a much more powerful state than Russia.

All NATO countries are basically Client or vassal states of the US government. They more or less do what they are told. In most NATO countries and other US allied countries their citizens can be extradited to the US on whatever charges the FBI imagine but not the same vice versa. This is the power of America.

I’ve literally seen death up close, held a dead man in my hands who had just been shot in the head.

They have been around for hundreds of years and the British used them, as well as Russians and others. It’s what happens when there is a war and they are desperate for men. You know for many Ukrainian troops the average life expectancy can be measured in HOURS when they are at the front. This should not be something to be scoffed at. The same was true of the English during WW1 at the Somme. When your veterans get killed or too injured to return to fighting, you’ve got to get your troops from somewhere. 🤷‍♂️ The Americans aren’t in Ukraine (god no, that’d REALLY piss off Russia) but there are Poles. So far 20,000 Polish have fought and many, many have been killed or injured.

Interestingly many military analysts (both American and several in the Chinese military and government) are predicting that the war will be wrapped up by Summer—or early Autumn at the latest. Ukraine simply can’t keep this up. It doesn’t matter what equipment you send when there aren’t men able to use it because they are dead, injured, or got the hell out of the country when the invasion happened.
