No collar, no microchip, flea ridden, and filthy (I didn’t know he was actually white until after a shower) Friendly, calm, quiet and on the older side.
It was raining and he approached us as we were loading stuff out of the car, wagging his tail. We brought him home and I’ve been regularly checking the posts I made in community groups and Craigslist, tonight will mark day 2 if no leads.
We’re moving into the neighborhood e we found him so I think I’ll keep him for the week at the new place and walk him outside in the hopes someone will recognize him.
I took him to the vet yesterday to check about any microchip and they told me to contact the animal shelters in the area he was found, in case anyone reported him missing. I think I’ll do that today.
Do you think someone abandoned him? Do you think he’s just a wanderer? He is fixed and very chill/friendly so obviously not a wild creature.
Poor fellow, and thank you very much for taking care of one of my brothers, I was going to tell you to do exactly what the DR. told you. That's all you can do. They will take it from there. After that wait till the legal time runs out, it's different in different states. Then you can either adopt him or give him to someone who will love him and care for him. Make very, very sure, that will be the case and also take written instructions from the person that he must show after the first week, and first month, how the dog is doing. IF YOU DECIDE TO GIVE HIM TO A SHELTER, PLEASE CHECK IF IT IS A SHELTER WHERE THEY DON'T KILL THEM AFTER A CERTAIN TIME RUNS OUT AND HE DOES NOT GET ADOPTED. BY LAW THE SHELTER HAS TO DISCLOSE WHICH OF THE TWO TYPES THEY ARE. Please be nice to him, he must have had a hard time till he got to you. An older dog is a little harder to adopt, but certain people may prefer it, if they do not want to go through the hassle of potty training a puppy. God bless you, please keep us posted as to how it goes.
PS: it's really tricky to converse with a person when you do not know their sex, I mean even at a generic level. Do you'll do this by design?

I would do what you have been doing, maybe take a photo and post it around the neighborhood with some contact info.
That being said, considering the poor shape you found him, it may not be in the dog's best interest that you find the owner.
If there is no collar, he might be an abandoned dog or if he is young, he might be a stolen dog that the thieves decided they could not keep. I would give the owner time and search for a foster family if they are never found. My theory is the old owners could not afford his medical bills so set him free with the hopes a more well off family would adopt him.
If I go around and adopt every stray dog then my home will become an animal shelter, there are MANY stray dogs around but I do play with the stray dogs who wander around my home though and give them bread. I open the main gate and they come inside and we play together in the garden.

Don't fly him to a country without the concept of pets and sell him for meat. And if you object to the suggestion contraindicated here, stop eating beef: The cows are just as friendly and entirely less likely to take life themselves than this dog or you.
I'd bring him in, fix him up and keep, post on pet fbi, and feed him the steak bone
do not give away to just anyone because some people will feed him to their fighting dogs. find no kill shelter.
A) keep the dog if it's well tempered and if I can afford it and place pictures out around town.
B) Send it to the shelter and help put pictures out around town especially if I can't afford the animal
My sentiment would be to offer them a home, but I already have 4 dogs, so on the occasions I have found dogs that have fallen off the back of utes or lost by pig hunters, I've had to ignore them, lest my alpha male constant companion jealously attacks them.
I’d do pretty much the same things you’re already doing. Unfortunately he could have been dumped, it’s quite common where I live.
Nothing other than maybe report it to animal control. I was attacked by the family dog when I was a child and still have noticeable scarring from the attack. I don’t mess with dogs. 4.7 million people are bitten every year.

I probably would send you a message and a picture of the dog and ask if you wanted a dog then if you did we would split the cost of the flight and then you pick the dog up at the airport I actually picked up my dog from the airlines before
I would take it straight to our nearest RSPCA centre.
Take it in to the vet, and call a few friends to see who wants the dog
I have a no-kill facility near me. I would take it there.
Contact all the dog people I know and get their advice and try to figure out a way to keep it. Guess the office will have a dog now.
Damn, I suppose I would take him home and see if I could figure out who he belongs to.
Clean him up and take to the vet for examination
I would probably either take it to the shelter or try to find the owner
Well it’s impossible he’s wild lol. He would not live long in the wild.
someone irresponsible def set him free
Keep him - you will be very glad you did and so will he!
Id Take it to the vet comeback later and take him home and find a good family for the dog and sell him Boom! 500 Bucks! and I helped a stray
Shotgun I guess. We us a burlap sack and a water to take care of unwanted kittens and pups. Sometimes just a hammer when there's a drought.
I think he was dumped by someone moving and you are wonderful person.
Cute dog. He was abandoned I guess.
