Is this just another take on the belief that women are becoming more liberal because they are single and how some brainwashed republicans thinks they can save the country by marrying them and turning them into conservatives?

Because if so, you are going to become disappointed. It does not work like that.

Not that I know of? If we share similar viewpoints already, we are more likely to be in a relationship than with someone we heavily disagree with (especially on vital topics like those). When we get a new partner, the views may shift, for both sides as evidence is presented and the partners want to avoid conflicts, but big reversals aren’t common I would say
